Hi!

I've started work on a Israeli Block 40 D model and in accordance to Isra book on C/D model 16's the wheels are different for Block 40's. It does not state if the wheels on Blk 40 D's are the same for Blk 40 C's.

When looking for suitable wheels I noticed that the pattern appears to be the same as those on a Mit. F-2. My question is; are they the same and are the tires the same size?

I'd appreciate any help on the subject.
Thanks.

I believe that Block 40-42, 50-52 both C and D and F-2 use the same main gear tires, witch are bigger than those on previous models. Also heard that nose wheel of 1/48 Hasegawa F-16 is smaller than it should be. Mitsubishi F-2A kit has a correct one but I suspect if you put it on F-16 the nose will slightly go up.

Consult with others who know more for F-16 than me. Wish you luck.

If you get their new CG or CJ kits, they come with the bigger tires and bulged landing gear doors, dunno if that'll help you any.

Ok here's the deal. The IAF F-16C/D Block 40's (C&D) have thier original Block 40 type wheels/brakes. Their block 30's have moded heavyweight gear, and retain the later type"block 50" wheel and brakes.

Just about All AD USAF F-16C/D Block 40/42's have been changed/converted to Block 50/52 wheels and brakes. I was at Nellis in 91-92 when we were the first Block 40/42 unit to completely change over to the Block 50/52 type wheels and brakes.

You're correct, the F-2 kit has the Block 40 type wheels and brakes (Which look freakin outstanding!) but are to tall for the hasegawa Viper. I would shave them down some, if you plan to use.
