Damm near everyone I know can count to ten on one hand... your not special! 5 high =5 / 5 low =10 easy as pie
And there are hand signals form most of the items you have listed. I know them do you? ...nope
You'd be amazed at how many can't count hi/low. But then again, many more can't spell. |

| I worked at Luke back in the day when we were training new 16 pilots. (310th) Nothing makes you wanna go comm out faster than a new boot climbing in the cockpit, go to battery, and you hear that BIG SIGH, then as he lets it out he says OK........, as he is steadily looking around the cockpit for his next switch to play with. |

Saw the toe tapping show from the boys from Tuson the other day. Brake channel checks. Yes, they can be done without losing your dignity.
First you need to know what "brakes" are to the pilot, Opening and closing the fist.
Second you need a helper down at the brakes.
Starting with the left brake you do brakes with your right hand. With the other hand it's one finger for channel one and two fingers for channel two. With the helper giving the thumbs up and down for movement/no movement things proceed quite quickly and you can get on to other things.
There really seems to be a real need to update and expand the official signals. |

I had the intercom crap out on me more than once, while the crewchiefs com worked just fine. So I and the crewchief worked handsignals and he relayed all info to the pilot by voice.
A cupple of times while on QRA espessialy when have to use the spare aircraft we'd forget to bring the cable, and or did't have the time to mess with it. So we launched the A/C on handsignals and had everyting ready when the jets returned. |

Hello,
I'm looking for the hand signals for a FLCS check. The thing is my boss want us to launch an a/c with no comm, only hand signals. I'm trying to collect info about it because in the TO's only the general signs are given. I've found (thanks to this forum) the way you check the brakes. Really helpful!!
Now I'm trying to prove him that is not possible with just one guy. It's needed at least one assistant for the entire check.
It would be a lot of help if you could cooperate with me. I know that the most experienced CC perform this without problems. If anyone of you have the complete procedure it would be very nice to have it posted here, so we can compare steps.
Thanks for your help, keep posting!!! |

I did'nt know we were being graded for typing errors. I bet your one to run everything threw word, to be safe from the losers that post on here grading everyone's typing/spelling. |
