I knew Roy Pleasant good. Met him at the lik during Desert Storm. Met back up at Moody. Funny thing, about a month after I married my wife I found out my wife and Karen (Roys Wife are cousins). Small world.

I met at the time (Col. John Posner) at Cannon Airforce base on Sep. 10 2005 at the air show there. You are right, as nervous as I was to meet him (wing commander at the time) that quickly faded. Not only did I get a picture with him, but he came as a guest speaker to my classroom the next friday for an hour and brought flight gear and just did a tremendous job. I wrote him a letter and had all the kids sign it from that class. I also received the commanders coin from him after his talk. It is right here on my computer desk. He is the reason I am joining the Air Force (one of them anyway). I leave out May 22 of 2007. Here is a pic from the air show.

Damn, Posner hasn't changed that much....nice to see the "bird" on his shoulders too.

Did you know Beard while he was at the T-Birds or WS @ Nellis or at somewhere else? I heard some stories about him from Cannon and they weren't exactly praising. Granted everyone once in awhile does kiss @$$(n ur a liar if u say u never done it n ur life!) but honestly I'll remember that guy for a long time. You see Nellis was my first base and thats where I got alot of my views about the Air Force from(which I'm sorry to say) and so I figure thats how most people act. I don't know to me he seemed like a good guy. But he is one out of many. There is one Flight chief I will always remember and Im sorry to say that I can not remember his name anymore but he was I believe a leader should be. He was flight chieft when I first arrived at Nellis in 2003 and he retired I believe in 2005 as a MSgt. He now works at Boeing and I can honestly say the Air Force lost a great man the day he retired. He would have everyone over for Thanksgiving at his house as well as Christmas. He respected his NCO's but it was with his airmen that he shined. If anyone knows what is name is plz tell me its driving me insane. Bang Head

Tall white guy with red hair and big built. Had shoulder injury for longest time and made Master couple of months b4 retiring.

Bill Dwyer, Vic Mercado and Carl Miller... All guys I have worked with, I worked with Bill and Vic when we were just wee little Airman on the ramp at Nellis and I taught with Carl at Sheppard. Dwyer is a crazy fool and Carl is a great guy.

For me as far as leadership would be Chief (Ret.) Steve Avilla. That guy was an old F-4 CC and ran his squadron old school! He took care of his people and stood up for them as long as they didn't lie to him, and he didn't give two s@#ts about what anybody else thought. Man he was an awesome guy to work for!

Pilots/Officers would be Maj. (Now Lt. Col.) Brick "Bluto" Izzi. I crewed him as a Capt. student with the Weapons Shool and then I was his DCC when he came back as a Maj. and an IP with the Weapons School. He really did care about his maintainers and what they did! He was a very easy guy to deal with and talk to, there was none of the "god" syndrome of a lot of pilots. I would crew him again anyday!

I'll 2nd Bruce Wright, Jerry Nelson, and Roy Pleasant.

I'll add Lt. Col Greg Marshal. He was our sqd commander for the 307th. He really did look out for his troops, and always spoke the truth, even if it wasn't what we were hoping to hear.

Turk is a hell of a guy. Real laid back and down to earth. Lurch, if you didn't know he was the ACC chief of saftey in the late 90's. Picked up the new (at that time) issue of Combat Edge and saw his mug on the editorial page. Wonder what ever became of him.
Lt. Col. Greg Feast was a great commander too. Was my Commander in the 9th FS. One star now I believe.

General Wilbur "Bill" Creech. The Air Combat Command you're in right now is what he was dreaming, scheming and fighting for before most of you were born.
