When on the runway ready for departure, eo you use wheel brakes or parking brakes as you run up the engine before you takeoff?

IIRC and having watched many-a-takeoff roll from the sim console (and done quite a few myself... ), Park Brake is verified OFF and the toe brakes are applied as engine RPM is run-up to pre-T.O. power (between 70% and 80% depending on the engine). Brakes released immediately prior to advancing the throttle to T.O. thrust. |

| In the BLK 50 we run up the engine to 90%. The parking brake automatically disengages at 85% so it would not be possible to do a run up check with the parking brake only with the GE-129. More than often we don't use any brake at all because we mostly do rolling takeoffs. |

The T.O says that you can apply the parking brake before running up the engine, but you must make sure that the parking brake disengaged after you have forwarded the throttle.
When flying with very heavy loads you should use minimum brakes at all time as the wheels in the viper can heat up very easily and explode.
