I was just thinking (yes, that's what the smell was) and I got to wondering where a guy like me could get a part from an F-16? I'm only talking about things like a control stick or throttle.
For the record, it's gotta be legal, too |

Here's how you can get your hands on them....go down to your local recruiter and enlist into a 2A3x2 afsc. Then you can order all of the parts you want.
all joking aside.....
I heard stories about a guy who got busted taking f-16 parts and selling them on ebay. Here's what I can tell you from what I know and how the story goes. According to the story he was working at Hill in depot. From my first hand knowledge of depot I can tell you that depot had a huge bin that contained pnls that were removed out of block 30's. (this was around 2001 so i dont know what mods were being done at that time...maybe NVIS/IDM) Those pnls were just tossed in and not really controlled. so i can totally see how someone can take panels out with out anyone noticing or even caring. has anyone heard anything about this? or is it all just a rumor? |

| When we barnyarded a bunch of jets a clock came up missing. You would have thought that Ft. Knox was missing. Seriously though, you might have the best luck searching in Google or with foreign services, The air force in in this Cradle to Grave mode which I am sure cost more in logistics that just letting a poor slub like me have a souvenir. |

well if you get into scrapping you can get a whole airframe. When a unit has a mishap they have to keep the wreakage for 7 years after that the f-16 in a dumpster gets sold for scrap. I'm guessing probably through DRMO. Or there is a guy on ebay "aircraftstock" who has all kinds of stuff (you'll have to see if he has what you want). I have a working slime light from an F-15E in my room it makes a rather cool mood light
Also I have an ACES II ejection seat cushion because we used them as knee pads working in the hanger. I think I have a static wick recepticle too. |

| yea but I'm pretty sure you can't just buy one small item. i think they auction off lots. search the internet for items like in google, you'd be suprised at what you can find. or take a trip to Tucson Arizona, in addition to AMARC (which you will NOT be able to get anything from) there are numerous aircraft graveyards out there. |

| Stuff like sticks and instrumentation is typically an old-for-new swap item. They are controlled and inventoried, even in the civilian world. A friend used to do that as a civilian, and no, unfortunately, he could not get me the Lear altimeter that I was hoping for. |

Don't make your Congressman's head smoke. The past week has shown that their primary job is kicking their @$$ enough as it is! |

Don't worry, TC - the worst that could happen is their brain might short-circuit and they'd start working right for a change |

| I think it would be very hard to find a throttle or stick because I belive those items are Do In For Maintenance (DIFM) when removed so they can get repaired and put back into the supply systems. |
