Well, to be fair, the posting DID say high school graduate ...
But you are correct, RMFC, being stuck in a job that you hate is no laughing matter. joeblow's post, although not a literary masterpiece, was still much more informative than truthhurts' post in that it gave a much more complete description of the package. I suspect that there are even more folks over there who are under the same contract and dealing with the situation quite well. To this point we have only heard from the folks who are not satisfied.

Well I guess spell check would cover my fat finger typing, oops......If you don't like it or want to question spelling maybe post on another thread, this one I thought was about being here in the UAE and giving facts or issues.............
If I was looking here deciding to accept a job or not in the UAE, I sure as hell would not worry about a dudes spelling, I would be concerned with the issues.........
Just my thoughts...........

No offense intended, joeblow, and I did give you credit for offering much more information than truthhurts had given us. And I was very serious in stating that working a job that you hate is a terrible way to go through life.
You stated that you were with LMAero for 4.5 years before the contract so it would seem that you would have some idea of how LM operates? Why leave an LM stateside job? If the job now is unbearable I would think you would still have contacts at LM who could "run the traps" to find a spot back there?
I'm just thinking out loud here for solutions, having an unhappy worker doesn't do the worker or the company any good.
One last thought, I wouldn't want to base accepting a job offer on the postings that I read on an internet forum.
Good luck in finding what you want. Fisk

Even in a bad situation, I think a person has to (or should) find a way to make the best of a bad situation.
Focus on the positive (there has to be something in that respect) available at this location. The "TelltheTruth" person did indicate he was continuing to post his Resume and look for other work....even that is something to take your mind of the matters at hand (if it is as bad as indicated).
Shame, many companies always used solid "PR" when posting such locations and positions, making the job and benefits seem so wonderful, shame it appears to be "hype" and mere publicity to just get folks to sign up and possibly be disappointed.
I hope you folks find a way to turn this around not only for the good of the working climate and the customer you support but for your own piece of mind and happiness. Good luck

Unfortunately in reality there are 'more than one' LM and the difference between LMAero (the old LMLM) and LMALC can apparently be pretty dramatic. I spent four plus years with ALC at the Aircraft Center in Greenville (KC-10's, P-3's and C-130's, and really enjoyed it, would go back if I was still in the area) but during my time there heard from quite a few people who had spent time 'downrange' with ALC who had much the same stories. Sad, as contracts like this could/should be really great experiences.
Habu2, Didn't know we had a high school grammar teacher on a maintenance web site. Shut the hell up and let grown ups talk would you? Keep your ACES II comments to yourself, actual maintainers are discussing important issues here.
Thanks
RMFC, I'm not a high school grammar teacher. FWIW, I'm sitting in the same room with Jon Beesley while we go through flight test run cards. Figure that one out.
My comment was a reference to joblow's atrocious spelling, grammar and typing errors in a thread that seems to have pitted the skill, knowledge and education levels of various folks in our common line of work (aircraft). joblow did himself and his co-workers no favors in that regard with that error-ridden post.

Plonk into the dead file.
I have been there and done that, many times. Contract work can be lucrative but it is a hard and unforgiving territory into which you have to go with your eyes wide open. Mars ou matrice.
My response to you and "whats his name" is that I object to arrogant people who think that the light of the world shines out of their nether regions.

Is this the type with the arrogant people who think the light of the world shines out of their nether regions????????

Or is it this one?

Nothing like plonking into the dead file trying to slam others. This topic was meant to inform people of a situation and you guys have turned it into a soap opera. Go back and read the infomative replies and skip the "light of the world" talk. You may learn something.

You are killin' me over here, asiatrails!! Besides, I thought The Legion's motto was: "Legio Patria Nostra" ? (Or maybe that was the LMAero guys?)
I'm reminded of another motto that may fit:
"We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little,we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."
RMFC,
As for soap operas? Re-read that first post ...
As for informing people? What is the point of the whole thread? Warning others not to come? If this is a public service announcement, thank you.
If you are hoping to better your situation there by complaining about bad LM management here, probably not the best use of your time. Complaining about LM while surfing LM careers for another job, also not the best approach.
I, too, have done foreign contracts work, once. I will not again.
Best of luck to everyone stuck in this situation. For their own sake and the sake of the company and the customer, I hope they all can find a way to get out.
Ok, so we all get something useful after five pages of this thread (which has gotten a little out of hand) Take a look at Fisk's webpage (on the bottom of his posts) at: http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n164/fiskerwad/
Where can I get me one of them??? (Check out the first vido, it's great...)
I've applied for a position in the UAE. From what I can see the money looks pretty good and I don't plan on staying with LMALC/LM-anything for life. I got treated like crap in the good ole boys USAF for 13 years so whats the difference with the UAE! The "Sortie Monster" is a fact of life in the fighter world! No matter what there's always a spineless jellyfish ready to stab you in the back (plenty of them at Luke!!!) If I get a crappy mattress over there, I'm going to buy a new one. I think some of these disgruntled guys need to go up to Dubai and hire a girl for the night. I'm sure it's laptop and baby oil over there but you have to make the best of it!

Fiskerwad - Concur with the official motto for the Légion Étrangère; the motto I used is March or Die, the unofficial one.
In my experience, the Legion have the best MRE's. When I was in Chad there was an appropriate bottle of wine in the MRE, close to civilized living in a combat zone.
Tankrat11 good luck, you have the right attitude. You will encounter spineless jellyfish, they are a fact of life everywhere. If you learn to use them, then you will win the game; the ones who don't will get the garbage jobs and wonder what happened.

Mike
Well, Mike, if you can get me a parachute can, survival bag, and some harnesses the rest is easy. The parachute (umbella) was $2.98 but I talked them down a dollar since it had a snag near the top !! Bargain hunting for ejection seat parts, NOT recommended in real life, however.
I read EVERYTHING on your site, BTW. Very interesting stuff and funny about the army dudes just forming up and marching off!! haha
