Poked around a bit for the quick answer (including a little Googling) but didn't see it, so fast way is to just ask. How many so far incl. foreign and everything?

does the Japanese version count in the total number or are they "a different but the same" exclusion?

No. Just F-16 proper. Including those built under license etc., but just actual F-16's. I've narrowed it down to 4,000 something.

Don't forget we have a massive database on every F-16 ever built. Including histories on each aircraft.

Somewhere it said it was the largest number of jets or fighters or something produced, but the Phantom stopped at 5,195. I wonder if they meant single engine fighters?

Speaking of world wide sequence numbers, anybody has a list of them? The first 700 have been published in a book a long time ago, but additional information has been sparse afterwards.

their still making those things. I think they call them fishnets or fishbeds or something like that.

Mainly because they're not rarely used as fishbate.

The last time I read Janes Book of Aircraft 2005/2006, they stated that the F-16 had delivered over four thousand two hundred aircraft and more than four hundred on order at that time. The F-16 does indeed stand a chance to be the most mass produced 'American jet' fighter.
The F-86 Sabre had 6,297 aircraft built by North American Aircraft, another 1,115 FJ Furys plus, 2,438 built under license in other countries. (This a long ways from the P-40 Warhawk's 16,880 aircraft built).
The highest produced American aircraft was the B-24 Liberator! There were 18,313 bombers produced!! The most produced was the Soviet Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik with 36,183 aircraft built!
