Hi all,
I just recently found this site and the <a href="[Link pending approval]">database</a>. What does "LM Aero T/V" stand for?
Also the dates. Does the first listed date mean the date the aircraft was first entered into service? For example, 94-0048's date is 6 Feb 1997 so would this be the date that the aircraft first entered service with the USAF?
About searching the F-16 units. When I look for the 77th FS, and look at the aircraft of that unit, the numbers are all missing or listed in a wierd format - like fiscal year is one number OR letter and everything else is blank or unknown. But aircraft 94-0048 according to other sources is assigned to the 77th FS. Why are they not listed?

Allo Bruce !
- "LM Aero T/V" means "Lockheed Martin Aero Type/Version", and I believe it's the internal name of the model made (like, you might have a computer branded "Dell Xpand" but inside Dell it's known as model D06513AS hehe)
- Serial dates are usually dates when the order is placed. So the 94-0048 means it was ordered by the USAF in the fiscal year 1994.
About the last, I'm not sure, but I'm sure the webmasters will be able to answer that.
Hope this helps ! Oh, and welcome too by the way |

Hi guys,
The LM Aero T/V is the construction number of the plane with Lockheed.
The first date that we have displayed here is the so-called DD250, where DD stands for delivery date. So this was not the date of the first flight but the date that the aircraft was handed over to its customer.
Remark about those FY allocations. What seat_dreamer said used to be true. Very conveniant system. But recently we found out (with the option of the Israeli Peace Marbel V contract) that the US government has evidently left the system that was behind it. For example, the first order of the PMV contract are FY 00-xxxx numbers while the option (which was signed later of course) are FY 99-xxxx numbers. This shift of policy makes it more difficult in the future to understand the logic of it all. Why they did it? We don't have any clue so far.
That last question about those strange signs that you got searching for the 77th aircraft. Indeed, thats the case. There seems to be something wrong with the search function. We did some serious upgrading of the serials database over the past few weeks and something went wrong there. We'll look into it as soon as possible. Thanks for letting us know.

Hi AV8NLVR,
Yes, we noticed as well. The problem is fixed when you enter the system through the advanced search function of the serials database, but it still seems to be corrupted when you enter it through the units listings. We'll look into it as soon as possible.

Although there is a minor technical issue with the serial database, when you search for a squadron you want to search for 77 FS and not 77th FS.
If you go to the F-16 units section and find the 77th FS, there is an option to view their current F-16 inventory. I just checked it and it states they have 25 aircraft which I doubt. Some of those probably don't belong. |

Jon, there was actually a problem with the links on the unit pages (that's what Bjorn was referring too) but I fixed it a few hours ago. So that's why it's working for you now
Sorry for all the confusion - let's just say that everything should work now. If not, blame me and post it here
