Geez the 16s have a hard time with the winter there, I can only imagine how the 35 is going to fare. |

| I agree, should be quite the adventure for both operations and maintenance |

Those are some pretty nice locations! Then again, the F-35 could be perm. based in hell and I'd still pray for an assignment there!! |

dispite the increased sophistication, Newer tech usually usually means better maintainance qualities. Unless you think cars made in the 80s have better reliability than ones made now
Its more or less the same with planes. |

It doesn't touch Alaska and they're sticking F-22s there. Of course since they leave them out in the friggin' SNOW (at Hill) I guess I'm not surprised. You'd think they'd at least put a tin roof over the top to keep out the rain, snow, and heat. |

| There are plans for major construction (new hangers and shelters) at Hill, along with new office, parking facilities...from what I have heard recently...I guess...time will tell if it really happens (the construction that is). |

| They have and continue to install snow/sun shades over the parking ramp similar to what is at luke. It does help keep the snow off the planes and makes for easier snow removal. The only thing they told us is that it is an environmental study to see what the impact might be for the area. Would be neat to see them here though. |

Those must be new as they didn't have them all the years I lived up by Hill (live further south now so I don't get to see them flying every day though I did see a big a$$ C-5 buzzing around low up in Layton yesterday) |

they had the snow shades up for a couple months before i left, but it doesnt help when only 7 spots per squadron have the shades. even then the snow isnt too badl, its the wind gusting through weber canyon to the flightline that froze me to death oh so much. maybe if we put jets in bubbles? |

No, but everybody I know has told me about it, thanks Kidding. Still haven't seen a B-2 in person. The evil face was because I never saw the Blackbird either but it whenever it flew into Hill inevitably someone would call me on the phone "dude I just saw the coolest black plane". Hell, the last time it came over I even heard it and thought "that doesn't sound like an F-16" but didn't walk outside to see what it was. |

| I worked on the B-2 during test at Edwards and still get goosebumps when I see one fly over. |
