Not many really. I think only software in the computers is an Israeli upgrade and the RWR suite is different (Hellenic being the ASPIS and Israeli being the ASPS) The real difference is that Israel is involved in desifn instead of Greece that we buy anything offered. Laughing

Well, quoting from "<a href="f-16_versions.html">F-16 Versions</a>" on this site:

F-16.net wrote:
The first production V(9) radar, which was delivered in April 2002, will be installed in the first Greece Block 52+ F-16. Also the new Israeli F-16s will be equiped with it.

The latest Israeli F-16 block 52 will furthermore be equiped with a video data link and Conformal Fuel Tanks manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), advanced avionics and a helmet-mounted display manufactured by Elbit, an advanced electronic warfare suite manufactured by Elisra and advanced weapons and sensors manufactured by Rafael. This makes these aircraft are becoming more and more an Israeli domestic product.

I would like to say that Hellenic F-16C-BLK52+ have Helmet displays as well but I do not remember any video link though. So the main difference is the maker of this goodies. And we have so MANY unemployed Electronic Engineers...

Hey Nikos,

Why do you hold quite a few makes of aircraft inventory? You got mirages F-1, 2000, A-7, F-5, F-16, F-4? You are in Nato, but you mainly purchase them against Turkey, I guess? What is the thing going on in between? Haven't you got enough armanent for a country of 10million?

The F-1s and F-5s are long gone and the F-4Es(SRA) are about to end their duty in the next 6 months, for they are not useful any more. So, there are about 130 F-16s (block 30,50 and the 52+s), 35 M-2000s, 28 F-4Es AUP,and 90 A-7 E/Hs. The case is not the 10 million country, it is the more than 200 F-16s and the 54 upgrated F-4Es of the opponent. Especially after the late desicion concerning the upgrade of more than 100 F-16s. That's why (apart from the 15 oncoming Mirage 2000-5s) another 20-30 F-16 are about to be purchased soon for HAF. The stake is ability to suppress any "dirty" thoughts, nothing less. Cool

Hey Nearhos,

Turkey acquires that much firepower not because we have 'dirty' thoughts against you, but we have some neighbours like Syria, Iraq, Iran, Armenia, which are not like your decent and relatively silent neighbours (how many border neighbours have you got by the way and who are they?). If you have a look at some sources from the net, most F-16 and other fighters are scattered all around Anatolia. When we consider all the circumstances around us, beleive me your armed forces are the least threat we take into account. Look at the amount of our F-16s appointed to Aegen Sea and the amount you got there. We still (for about 5 years now) fly unarmed, where you fly with quite a lot A-A armanent. Our crisis strategy is to cope with 2.5 countries at a time, where 0.5 is the possible internal seperatists. But I do not know, for some reason you think we have the wish to strike or something?

On the other hand, one other thing I really wonder is, how can be your aerial space 10 miles, when your marine coverage is 6 miles? Or how can it be both 10 miles in a closed sea like Aegen comprisig lots of islands? Which agreements give you that right I really wonder and wanna search for it, if you know any by name? If there is any, why do not US and EU press on Turkey to accept what you support?

Stefaan,
I respect your directive (despite the fact that F-16s are means of politics) . I sent Otto a private message which is not offensive. It's only another part of a civilised debate Laughing

Hi Nearhos,

I got your reply but really so busy that I could not write a word. I'll contact you off-line soon.

By the way, Stefan that's right what Nearhos says, indeed, F-16 is a good political tool, especially when you consider US has sold it to over 20 countries.

On the other hand, our F-16s are meeting over Aegean Sea several times a day! Cheers That's the thing we are talking about, nothing else Very Happy

There are two clear external differences between the IDF/AF Blk 52+ and the HAF Blk 52+. The bigger RWR on the left side of the nose and the bulges on the spine.
