Sorry for what might seem to be simple [Link pending approval]
At, say 25,000 feet ASL in altitude, what flight time to Bingo would you expect at full AB? ([Link pending approval]) |

| Too many variables to answer - internal fuel only? if not then drag points? field elevation? I'm sure someone can quote SFC for the engines (lbs/hr in AB) but there's a lot more involved in calculating 'flight time to bingo' |

The Full AB fuel flow varies from around [Link pending approval] Lbs/Hr at sea level to around [Link pending approval] Lbs/Hr high level. Depending on temperature and whether or not the segment 5 is lit. As from a certain alt, the 5th AB segment is inhibited to prevent engine stall but if you enter that region with the segment already cooking, it will not extinguish itself.
Hope it can answer your question.
Fuel carriage for a A-model wingtanks is +- 12100 Lbs usable. Substract 1300 Lbs for a B-model.

| About 10 mins or so full burner. It's not very long, as the plane eats up fuel like theres no tomorrow. |

| If you had to stay in burner for ten minutes it would be because there would be no tomorrow if you don't... |

| AB can only be used for a little while, the fuel flow is to fast and it wouldn't be able to catch up with itself and would run out of gas before it actually did. |

WHAT!? That a joke?
These engines will run at MAX AB until there isn't enough fuel to fill the manifolds (PW) or bars (GE).
Then Pop, BANG, and everything gets real [Link pending approval] |

| No, that's not a joke, it's true. The fuel controls are fed from the fwd and aft reservoirs, each containing about 500#, and the pumps that replenish these can't match the 60,000PPH flows that I have personally experienced. |

If I'm correct, wouldn't that mean you'd only have about 1 minute in burner? Wouldn't that be a potential liability in combat? |

The pumps continue to supply the reservoirs, but not quite fast enough. Over time, you'll drain the reservoirs. The longest I've ever felt the need to stay in AB was about 3 minutes so it wasn't a player. I'm sure you could go longer though.
There's a note in the -1 about it as well, probably written in blood. |

I see what you mean, shoulda thought about that myself! Thanx for the insight! Being an interested civilian, can anyone tell me where I can get a copy of the -1 or where I can read it? |

Enlist.
Or get a civilian job working at Lockheed or another company involved with F-16 flight simulators... that's what I did! |
