Mmmm...nope. Its the ALR-69 RWR. Call LM. Have a nice day.
-Check
Hey, Check, how high is the horse you're on? I ask, because I sincerely hope it is not too high, as you will have to get off of it.
And I quote:
"Just to add my nickel's worth, in the July 2000 "Code One", there was a pic in the NOTAMS section of an Agressor F-16 with this pod attached. The mag only said it was a "radar reflective pod" used to "simulate a variety of threat aircraft", nothing more elaborate than that."
--LinkF16SimDude
"For everyone one trying to figure this out...let me tell you the real. The agressors is my old Squadron. I worked there for 4 years as a crew chief. All these chin pods do is modify the aircraft's radar signature too look like a MIG aircraft. There is no electronics inside of this pod, just a concrete like material in the nose."
--Ibcstyles, F-16 Agressor Crew Chiew... ACFT-220
"If anyone ever says this equipment is "sensitive" that is BS. It might have been a long time ago, but not anymore. These pods were introduced by the U.S. Navy for their F-16Ns to increase their RCS during TOPGUN exercises. The F-16 has such a small RCS they needed a way to simulate a bigger enemy aircraft. That is all anyone needs to know. The AN/ type number might be found by searching for info on the F-16N."
--wpnssgt
"I just helped remove two of these for the first time on an agressor yesterday. The pod is hollow, nothing electronic inside. They have no connector, and the hardpoint cover stays on underneath the pod. So, no jamming or any other capabilities here. Just makes a small blip into a bigger one."

Don't hit the ground too hard
P.S. - Now I am 99.99% sure that you are wrong.

Actually the link wouldn't open on my computer for some reason. I took my info from another LM article, but I'll conceed to your info to avoid argument. No need to continue being a jackass though with your dumbass PS comments.
I think it is quite safe to say that these pods on the inlet of the Vipers are not normal RWR as only agressor aircraft us these devices.
Every place I have seen or read about these, it is stated that they are to enhance the RCS of the Viper. If it has a formal designation, well I don`t know.
My initial question was how the new stealthy F-35 and F-22 can aid civilian air traffic in a similar manor that the Vipers are doing - can we please get back to this?
This is not about marking terretories you know
Thank you

F-22A's have a bolt on device which can be seen in many pictures on the bottom of the aircraft. I'm sure the F-35 will have something like it.
We're not talking about the beer cans on the LEFs.... we're talking about the bolt-on pods on 5L & 5R

Thanks habu2. I'm aware of what your talking about but I'll only post in relation to the original thread topic to avoid argument. The webmaster contacted me about a couple of threads, asked me to ignore those acting like trolls and stated that he was watching their posts. As far as this thread and the F-22A...since I was involved in the program I can tell you that the devices on the bottom of the jets you sometimes see in photo's are for that purpose. Just like on the F-117. Take care,
