<a href="news_article1968.html">Turkey F-16 crashes - Pilot ejected</a>

Reports in the press say the F-16 in question to be from 191 Filo crashed in the mountainous area near Evciler village in the Bayramiç district of Canakkale at around 1 pm on Monday. Eye witnesses say as the plane descended they saw the pilot eject before the plane crashed.

Canakkale Governor Orhan Kirli stated that search and rescue teams of the provincial forestry directorate and military personnel were dispatched to the area to retrieve the pilot.

The accident is thought to have occurred due to a engine malfunction.

At least the pilot is safe...
What is the number of accidents per total flying hours of NATO Air Forces (Vipers only) by the way? Anyone has any statistics on the issue?
