Hi. New to the forum.

i am going to be making a 1/48 F-16A 2003 Tiger Meet edition with eduard "Big Ed" detail set.

I have never made a Hasegawa before and their colour reference is for Mr.Colors which i cant seem to find anywhere.

the colour scheme is the same as this:

http://www.f-16.net/gallery_item50073.html

i was wondering if anyone could tell me what these colours are in either Tamiya acrylics or Humbrol enamels.

Thanks alot.

Richard

Hello Richard and welcome :D

Fine Scale Modeller magazine published a good comparison chart in Oct. 2001, and from this I can tell you;
FS36118 Gunship Gray = Humbrol 125
FS36270 Neutral Gray = Humbrol 126
FS36231 Dark Gull Gray = Humbrol 140
FS36375 Light Ghost Gray = Humbrol 127
FS36320 Dark Ghost Gay = Humbrol 128
FS36173 Air Mobility Command Grey = Humbrol 156 (Alternative to FS36118, looks "weathered")
FS35237 Medium Gray = Humbrol 145 (Alternative to FS36118, looks "weathered")
Please note: These are enamels.

Tamiya has similar colours only in the spray can range, nothing in tins/jars, and doesn`t list the FS-numbers, so this is a "best-guess":
FS36118 Gunship Gray = Taniya AS27
FS36270 Neutral Gray = Tamiya AS7
FS36231 Dark Gull Gray = N/A
FS36375 Light Ghost Gray = Tamiya AS26
FS36320 Dark Ghost Gay = Tamiya AS25
FS35237 Medium Gray = Tamiya AS28
From what I understand, these are acrylic colours.

As Humbrol/Airfix/Heller is under administration I suggest you pic up the needed colours soon, as no-one yet knows the outcome of this situation. Sad, but that`s life.

You can also use the search engine at www.Hannants.co.uk and search for the FS-numbers you want. It will for sure give you a lot of hits, either enamel or acrylic, wichever is your choice.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress :D
Best regards
Niels

Hello RJ

Try searching on www.hannants.co.uk - you`ll most likely find what you need there :D

Also try substituting the first 3- with 1-, as you then might find more hits (E.g. 10279 instead of 30279)
The difference is that those starting with 1 are gloss, while those starting with 3 are matt. :thumb:

i had already tried that. well tamiya paints a readily avaliable to me, they do a Deserts Yellow XF-59 and a Flat earth XF52.

the desert yellow looks like it is very similar to the real colour and i have mixed the flat earth with some red and white and have nearly got it spot on. just needs a bit of tweaking and il have it.

thanks anway.
