AFROTC, if you do not already have a degree. Best way besides the academy hands down. Use the search function you'll find tons of information on it.

since im going to purdue that would probably be one of the best colleges for the airforce i think because of the on campus airports so i can get more flight training

It all depends on your situation and how you want to do things. ROTC is the best for some, but for others the Academy or OTS is the way to go. It all depends on what you want to put into it and get out of it besides a commission and a pilot slot.

Not always the case...You might meet dudes/gals who had no prior flying experience prior to being selected for a slot, and then you might meet dudes/gals who had all their ratings...and you'll most likely meet a lot of dudes/gals who were somewhere in between prior to being selected. I know Purdue has a really good aviation program, if you are in that, that doesn't mean that you will automatically selected to UPT. Major does not matter!! Meaning, yeah, you could get a major in underwater basket weaving to engineering to biophysics and it won't play a role in your categorization. However, your GPA will...so pick something you like and something that you will excel in. But having your ratings will help you get a higher PCSM score.

Just a tip...the best advantage you will have is from standing out as a good cadet in AFROTC, not just because your school has airports near and you have some prior flight time. Just my 2 cents...

Good Luck.

Everyone will eventually figure out that the Guard is the best way to go if you want to know what you are going to fly before hand and want to fly for your entire career. Active duty guys will eventually be moved out of flying positions as there rank increases plus you'll have to compete for what you want to fly at UPT.

Theres a lot of people that could argue that the guard is that best way to go and honestly I really wouldn't know. But as far as getting a slot (sts) I think its a lot more competive on the reserve/guard side than it is on the AD side of things.
