Hey Guys, I'm looking for info on some particular paint schemes. first up: the number 2 prototype A/C 01568 circa 1974 Camouflage pattern . I have heard the colors refered as " Cloud White" and "Air Superiority Blue". does anyone know of these colors and are they available from any of the paint mfgs. or does anyone know of a formula to mix them. I'm probably going to use the Tamiya 1/48 kit of the Prototype, unless someone can point me in a better direction. There are several pics in the Gallery of this bird.

Next up, F-16C 85565 174th FS IOWA ANG "BATS' the Sioux City all gold plane. Ever since I saw this in the May 1997 issue of Combat Aircraft magazine , I've wanted to do this bird. I got the decals in both 1/48th and 1/32nd scale will most likely do the Hasegawa 1/48th. Color refered to as General Motors Cadilac gold. Will Model Masters gold work or should I try to track down others. I got the decals off ebay along with 10 pics of this plane on display at Oshkosh. The seller did not know who took the pics.

Any info you guys can send my way will be most helpful . Thanks

Viper50, you are in luck. I had inquiries a while back about 01568 and put together this collection: http://www.habu2.net/vipers/yf16/ I don't think there are FS nubers for the colors, it was done 'in house' at GD. You can see from the photos that the colors seem to vary widely in reproduction so I wouldn't worry about being too exact.

I have some magazine photos of the Golden Viper but no hard info on the exact paint.

Habu2, thanks for the pic and the link, it will be most useful in my project. I can't say , in all honesty that "cute" was the adjective that I would use. I always thought it was "sharp", but to each his own. This scheme is often mistaken for an adversary or NAVY camo paint job. Later, off to the work bench.
