They even manufacture AIM-54 by themselves now.

After September, 2006, Tomcat + AIM-54 will become a total "Iranian Weapon System".

The greatest patron of USN during the cold-war era becomes the patron of American biggest enemy in mid-east now. What an ironical scenario it is...............

I thought they'd fitted some Russian land based missile systems. That's in some other thread. The F-22's better watch out Razz, again different thread. I'm gonna go find that thread now.

Not Russian, American. Somewhere on here there are pics of a Tomcat with a Hawk SAM strapped to it. Silliest thing I've ever seen, Hawks are HUGE.

Reverse engineer them maybe ? Question

Did they only get sensors and electronics from the Hawks or they adapted the whole missile to be aircraft-launched ? If the latter, it must be the hugest and most clumsy A2A weapons system in usage right now Shocked WTF

Over the past few years several people in the US (that I've heard about) have been prosecuted for attempting to smuggle Tomcat parts to Iran. I can imagine that the Navy is being quite careful in the 'dismantling' of their retired aircraft to prevent this.

I did some searching and here are a couple of the Tomcat / Hawk photos:

I don't know if these were actually operational, or just a 'hey, check this out...' kind of thing, but it had to take some ingenuity...

Saw a google earth map with a blue F-14 parked behind a hangar, at the back of an Iranian air base. The aircraft wasn`t there for long.

There are plenty of people who Iran could pay to go and train local tech`s on F-4, 5s and Tomcats. Probably already been done......

Want proof? Here it is flying together with an IRIAF MiG-29 (Iran bought Fulcrums in 1990)

EDIT: here's a video of it:

The people who commented on that have on idea what they are talking about

"First USAF do not have F-14 anymore,Pilots in F-22 and F-35 will be dead meat cos they still have lot to learn about their aircraft"

Just thought I'd mention that.

Why YouTube comments section always turns into a "Mine is bigger than yours" cockfight ? It can't be possible that SO many immature people use the Internet and know that site....

As much as I want to see the government change in Tehran, I'll keep politics out of this Wink .

I've got to hand it to 'em for keeping those Turkeys (and I mean that in the kindest sense) flying. Who'dve thunk to put a Hawk missile under the wing of a Tomcat over here? I wonder just how well it works...

Where do these figures come from? How can we be sure that the Iranians aren't skewing these numbers to make them higher or lower?
