Hi there,
I've just arrived at this site for the first time. Looks pretty nice! In about 6 months I get started with my Airforce school.
Well I will do the best I can do to get a place on the viper but I also can get a place to one of the helicopters.
Now my question is: Do you guys have some tips, hints, support or anything else so I can prepare myself for the best I can?
Thank you!

Which countries air force are you applying to? Good question as in the case of the F-16, lots of different countries use it.
Best advice is mostly attitude.- Be a team player
- Want to learn the job/task ( eager to work hard to learn the job )
- Listen to the instructors
- Don't give up on anything, even if it seems impossible
- Find a good sergeant or officer to emulate their abilites / qualities ( learn by example )

Well I am applying for the RNLaF (Dutch Airforce) so it will be the F-16A/B Block 10/15 MLU right?
First of all I will get an officers training course and after that I will fly the PC-7. If those years passed succesfully I will get an assignment.
And thank you very much for your advice elp! |

Congratulations for choosing the best job in the world. I hope for you, you will be assigned to the F-16.
For me the best tip I can give you is to be motivated all the time, it's a hard learning period with quite some stress, but once you're getting the hang of it, you'll love it.
Keep working, and keep your goal in mind: flying on the best jet there is |

Hi scooter86,
I have a little question for you. How does your education look like? I'm just curious about duration, flying hours, aircraft types...You entered the RNLaf so I suppose it isn't much of a difference from the BAF.

Scooter,
The best advice I could possibly give you is when you get to your first base, be a leader, not a follower. |

LeeRichardson Thanks for your advice. Leadership is the most important I see!
Frodo, first of all becoming an officer. Then we will fly the PC-7 with about 40 hours. For the F-16 you will go to Sheppard; fly the 'Tweet' (when it is still there [Link pending approval]) for about 125 hours and in the 125 hours we will fly 20 hours solo. Also around the 125 hours flying the T-38 with also 20 hours solo and than to Tucson AZ and I don't know how many hours we will fly there but there is our final [Link pending approval] the Viper! All in one it will take almost 4 years (perhaps 3,5, you never know!) |

Good luck |

Nope, our training is essentially like that up to now:- +/- 100 Hrs SF260 -> Basic Flight Training (1year)
- +/- 100 Hrs Ajet -> Advanced Flight Training (1year)
---- Selection whether transport or Combat A/C -----
Transport guys- Basic transport conversion C130 or White body or Chopper
Combat guys- +/- 100 Hrs Ajet
- initial Operational Training (8 months)
- +/- 70 Hrs F-16 -> Operational conversion Unit (10 month)
----- Finally arrival in Squadron ----- (hopefully 350SQN, best squadron)
