They have one on display at Wright-Patt. Its a test model from the Boeings "Phantom Works" used to test new theorys in tailess stealth aircraft. Its only about 1/4 the size of a real fighter though.

This program went white last year (many months ago), and many public announcements were made at that time. There are even released video files of the bird in flight. The sole flying example is at the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson. The WPAFB press release is dated back in July...

So why would they build it? As it would kill F-22 funding, or is that another way to keep Boeing from going under. Or is it a competitor to the JSF? Or it it the NEXT JSF or F-60 something? I is cool looking though!

It was R&D exploring new theorys and technologys much like the X series. It was never intended for production. We may however see something in future UAV's that borrows from lessons learned with this aircraft.

LO research, mainly for future UCAV birds. Never intended for production - but don't ever discount the Silver Bullet crowd...

I hear that the Romulans are very strict when it comes to trademark infringement. Laughing
