I joined this forum on Nov 30, 2005 but in a way I’m new here. The story is that I never got around to introduce myself before the Danish Air Force got the idea that they wanted me to go to Iraq.

So for the last six months I’ve been serving as a military policeman in “sunny Iraq” but now I’m back in the real world thank god.

I’ve always been a great fan of the Viper, and I’m planning to reactivate my old hobby of building modern jets.

Cheers all

Thanks for the welcome guys

I went to Iraq in February with the Danish Military police detachment. The unit is based in Camp Danevang located in the town of Basra with also is the HQ for the Danish forces.

The job as a MP in Iraq is basically standard Military police work. Mainly traffic control, investigations of traffic accidents, local safety jobs and maintain law and order among the troops.

Also part of the job was the training of the local Iraqi police and security forces and participating in actions against local gunmen. The town of Basra is not always the most peaceful town to stay in but the local Iraqi population is mostly friendly towards you. So one of the most important missions was the foot patrols that gave us the opportunity to get in contact with the civilian Iraqis.

So all in all, my deployment to Iraq was a god experience that I learned a lot from, but I’m glad to be back home.

Cheers
