It was on FOX news that afternoon, drummertr many engineers, designers and mechanics got to go to the ceremony here and it was broadcast live via webcast, at least here in F/W, I assume your an NGC guy eh? You really didn't miss much anyway.

Ya...we are just the lowly subcontractors (Northrop El Segundo) so I understand. Supposidly "technical diffiulties" was the reason for not showing us the ceremony over the web. Our higher ups were able to attend personally but not us grunts. This being the first jet I have worked on, I was bummed I couldn't go but I am sure there will be others. Thanks for the link.

Yes, there are two ways of naming a plane. You can come up with something original that sounds cool, or fits. Or you can slap a two on the end of an old name, and say it's good. At this rate it won't be long before we've got a "Super Sabre 2"

The ceremony was typical long speeches, although presented much better. I can say that the F-35's rollout was WAY better than the F-22's rollout in 1997. At least they showed the plane about halfway through, not the last five minutes of the event after a bunch of boring song and dance and speeches.

THere's a slide show, with clips from some of the speeches on the Ft Worth Star Telegram website. Under SLIDESHOW (right side of page, about midway down). You may need to register for access.
