I have a simple question :
What is the best (most realistic) F-16 simulator around and what type of joystick should I use for the most realistic feeling.

| You asked for the best, not the newest. But F4.0, incidentally is the newest. |

The original release is old (and flawed). The user community has taken Falcon 4.0 where no F-16 (PC) sim has gone before. With the proper patch sets downloaded it is definitely the best F-16 sim available. The graphics are a lot better than the WST and UTD sims I have seen (and flown).
Oh, and best controls are definitely the Cougar HOTAS setup.

I thought Novalogic's MRF was a bit newer? (but not better) |

Habu, you tell him he asked for the best, not the cheapest.
'Just Flight' recently released the first information on its upcoming expansion for Microsoft's Flight Simulator and Combat Flight Simulator titles. Can't imagine it is anything as good as Falcon 4 but the screenshots are damn nice...

| Right, Falcon4 (I use the SP3 patch) is definitely the best sim you can find. Sure, graphism is not as stunning as in Lock On, but it is still the most realistic sim available. |

Nope, you cant fly the F-16. Only F-15 and A-10 are playable, but they have a really bad physic. only the russian planes are good modeled.
But who wants lomac if Falcon 4 SP4 its almost done??
sorry about my englis, its not good enough to explain what I want to say hehe |

| I used to dabble in the innards of F4, back when the source code was leaked. I also worked a lot with a lot of the third party cockpit designers, checking their work against the Block 50/52 UTD sims. One of my areas of interest was changing the texture patterns for different 'skins' etc. I went out to Carswell and photographed the tail of a 457 FS 301 FW Block 30, scanned it and manipulated it into a texture map, then applied it to the tail of the F-16. Here is a composite screen shot of the TX-tailed F-16, with the original photo inset in the upper left corner: |

At this moment SP3 + BMS is the best combination of patches available for Falcon.
And Falcon is indeed THE benchmark in realistic combat flightsims.
To assure it remains the benchmark, g2interactive is developing a Falcon Gold release, including all the new features from BMS and more.
You can check out the site at [Link pending approval]
If you are interrested in a falcondemonstrationteam you can check out the link from my team: [Link pending approval] or .be
