What makes you guys think Pakistan will supply China with US tech secrets?
Do you have any proof or this is as usual a knee-jerk reaction.

Why would the USA give it to India but not Pakistan? I don't see India helping with the fight against terrorism. And even if they don, they always got China there already getting J-10's the only country to get them. And China is also makin a J-XX very similar to F-22, soo we'll be on the same page even though I think US will supply Pakistan with F-35 still. But yeah Pakistan is getting AMRAAM's tooo

That similarity is due to tha fact that chinese aviation enthusiasts use F-22 photos or virtual 3D models to make the J-XX themselves.
As of now, the real J-XX stealth air superiority fighter is a paper concept (not even paper project)

Even if F-35 was available for sale, there is no way the PAF would be able to afford it; if Block 52+ costs us 83mn USD a plane, I can imagine F-35 like 140-150mn USD per plane to Pakistan. I cannot imagine the PAF going for such a fighter within the next 15-20 years at least.

Hmm, Your price tag per jet is way off for the F-16. Try round the $40-45M mark. $83M is near the cost per F-15 airframe

That is how much Pakistan is going to pay for its 36 new-built Block 52+ aircraft; 3bn USD including infrastructure, support, training, etc. Not sure why the price tag is so high though, rumour has it that its because Pakistan may have an undisclosed option or may have ordered excess spare-parts?

NO WAY! They have lots of really old planes to retire - Mirage 3/5, A-5. The A/Bs they have (34) and the other 26 they will receive from US stocks will be upgraded to MLU standards.

The F16 sell would be a compensation for Pakistan's help in Afghanistan. All material in the purchase list will be, if not obsolete, fairly outdated in three-four years time when deliveries will begin. The viper will be a thirty-year-old design. Plus JHMDS without AIM9X! AMRAAM C5 in 2010! what's the big deal? China will have gotten the relevant design information till then anyway (if it already hasn't). There is no major technology transfer involved in that procurement. Suppose the Chinese wait until 2010 and then try to exploit potential information sharing. This would provide tactical benefits when? around 2013? The US feels confident that the stealthy Raptors, F35's, SH's and shortly awaited technological advances (AIM120C-7 and D models, iimproved AESA radars, etc) will give them the edge in any occasion in that future. Smile F35 for pakistan: in 15 years if the regime remains proAmerican (doubtful) and if pakistan raises the needed funds (doubtful indeed).

Don't think they'll sell te F-35 to Pakistan especially when they have good relations with China, and anyways they probably won't be able to afford them- at least not in large numbers.

I think Pakistan should get them, they play a key role in war on terror. Also why should India get it and not Pakistan there airforces aren't to far behind each other Rolling Eyes

The F-35 is a nice to have, but I doubt the command structure of the PAF will consider it due to high cost value of each aircraft and support structure to go with it. Also the thinking they deserve it is a misnomer.

Question A hypothetical question for the pro lobby [open to the opposing lobby to], which of the versions do you think they should go for with reasons, if they did consider it or were offered it?? [hypothetical of course]. Keep the answers clean and flame free to!

Cost is not the only factor. Even if pakistan was offered JSF's they would be thinking twice about getting the plane. Why, because they are smart enough to know that their friendship with USA only lasts as long the as the americans want, one their work is done, they just sacnation pakistan like they did in the 90's after pakistan done helping the taliban fight off the USSR in afghanstian.

If JSF is baught then it'll be the frontline fighter of the PAF, and PAF does'nt want a american plane to be their frontline fighter( again, because USA can sacntion them anytime and making their air force useless like it did in the 90's.). Apart from that the only usefull thing JSF would be offering PAF is probabley the stealth techonlogy, and that too depending on how much the US degrades the plane.

Also, unlike the F-16, JSF is not a "work horse" it won't be able to do all the things PAF wants it to do. But the JSF would be great for a 2nd or 3rd line fighter.
