This morning Dutch F-16s intercepted an Boeing 737 after radio contact was lost. They broke the sound barrier between the cities of Heerenveen and Zwolle. They escorted the 737 until the province Noord-Holland.
That's all I have for now..

| When more info comes out, I'd be interested to know who the carrier was and where they were headed. |

Hi JanHas, thanks for posting this.
Belgian F-16s intercepted 46 civilian planes last year (2005) and 15 this year (up until 20 May) because no radio contact could be established with the pilots.
BTW, here are some previous articles regarding Dutch intercepts:

Hm. They don't do that here. Either that, or they do, and we never hear of it. |

The plane was on its way from Bulgaria to Belfast and was allowed to continue its flight once authorities managed to establish radio contact.
The two F-16s took off from Leeuwarden AB.
I posted an article on it here: http://www.f-16.net/news_article1863.html |
