| C'mon guys Mountain Hole ain't that bad as long as you lower your standards a bit:D it's kinda like the Korea of the CONUS--even ugly dudes can get laid there...only thing is, although the odds are good, the goods are odd. |

Best - RAAF Williamstown, near Newcastle Australia (aprox 60 min train ride north of Sydney). Nice hotel, on the beach (ocean front), good food, great people, great beer, affordable place to visit.
Worst - Thumrait Oman - OSW, tent city, bare base, need I say more. |

Nobody has said anything about the PI Clark AB it was a party everyday there . 12th FS used to go there for a month from Kadena. We would get off the plane and the first thing you got handed was a cold beer. If it was your first time there you had to go watch the VD movie. When we stayed down town Staffs and above got there own rooms in the hotels. And then there was the women sorry having flash backs here. By the 27th day you would be ready to leave there but when we got back to Kadena we would be counting the days till we went back to the PI. |

Best and worst, huh?
The best was Jever AB Germany. Virtually unknown because very few get to go. Per Diem up the a$$ and the occasional interruption of work. We had to have two jets fly once a day (maybe) for a month. The town was VERY friendly and there were about sixteen different restaurants from around the world. My favorite was Argentinian. Hmmmm....steak.
Israel is in the number two spot only because there was more work. To beat the heat we ended the duty day at 1300 and hung around the pool. The Israeli women were threatened with 60 days at hard labor if "caught" with an American. Some risked all....sigh.
ZZA. OMG lets all go to jail for a change in pace. Not all the stories can not be told because nobody would believe them.
The LIK: Nice shopping but being chased through the night by Turkish police and soldiers because someone else asked a girl to dance sucked. Sneaking back onto base was sporting.
Saudi. Celebrated New Year's with Nyquil and Seven Up. Nuff said. You have been in the Gulf too long when you read People magazine for the good pictures. |

| Best TDY for me financally was U.A.E. Most overpaid I ever was for doing EOR, shooting tubes and getting holed up in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Only time I've ever enjoyed dayshift. Work wise, my easiest TDY was Langley back in Nov for DACT againt the Raptors and only had one eight hour night. The rest were 4 hour nights on average. But overall all the TDYs I've been on have been good. |

Best- Well Its a toss up between Tyndall and ZZA. I'd tell some of the stories, but I'm not sure the statute of limitations has run out on most of them
Worst- israel, Hot, long days, horrible food, and the flightliine had to be reached by bus. Not to mention that they put us up in what appeared to be unwanted trailers from "Tulsa Used Trailer Sales" |

| Best TDY for me was the Block 40 test team TDY in 1989 and Corsica in 1990. I also like ZZA and The Lik. (I found out how great pistachios were and I have been hooked ever since) The worst ones were Nellis, Dugway, and Holloman while I was at Hill. Other than that most of my TDYs were great. |

my best was probably to Aviano during allied force. Living conditions sucked, but we still managed to have a good time and drink a lot of wine.
Worst, probably Kwang Ju in korea. Had to go fix jets there. Nothing like an army post...get there, just go find a room, no sheets or towels. there were bugs in all the rooms...most of us got some sort of bug bite. We did manage to bring enough beer along to get trashed though. |

| Best, tough call. Rostock, in the former E. Germany vs. the MiG-29s. Denmark (3 times) always good, as was Norway (twice). Deci (3 times) and Bratislava. |

We were in tents at the end of the runway in the winter. |

WORST BY FAR- PSAB, Saudi Arabia. Back in the tent city days. Only thing you see was crushed rock, sand and concrete. We actually had a competition of who could find a stick. Nobody won!
BEST- It would have to be Stavanger, Norway. Beautiful women and awesome scenery. |

Any place in Texas is pretty much a tie for the worst...sorry to you Texans out there...you have a great state, but your bases suck @$$!
Best TDY to date, was Nellis, but only because I was old enough to to partake in the Clark County nightlife. I imagine that it would've sucked had I been underage.
I'll let you know what the TDY's are like when I become a REAL Loadmaster, not just a wannabe in training. |
