Thanks

So you a list of all enine typers, per country ? All engines are used from Pratt F100-200/220/220E/229, GE F110-100/129.

To compile a list of diferent types of engines, just look yuorself. All you have to do is go to the data base here for each country and see what block F-16's they have: Blocks 1-25 Pratt, block 30 GE and so on.

Allot of info is here, just take a look

Mike

Exactly, once you know your Blocks you will know your engines. The "Users" Link on the top left and the "Versions" link will help you out.

But what earlier models still have the PW -200? That's not as cut and dry.

Jetech,

If I see a spare moment I'll try to make a list regarding your question.

Greets,

Don't sure about over blocks, but the F-16I 'Sufa' (Block 52+) have the improved F100-PW-229.

Blocks 25-60 are not in question, 1-15 are where there seems to be a gray area if the -220's have been fitted or the older -200's are still in use.

Thanks

Here you go.

One Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 turbofan.....

Between 1991 and 1996, earlier models of the F-16 with the -200 engines had them upgraded to -220E standard, providing capabilities and lifespan comparable to the Block 15OCU -220 engine.

It is not clear exactly what F-16A's with Pratt -200's were rebuilt as 220E's. Even here at Edwards, onl;y about 3 of our F-16B's wee moded. Also note that F-16C block 25's still came off the production line with -200's. Now, just about all of that block F-16 in service has been retrofitted with the 220E.

Also GE's -132 motor is still to make a showing. After all, it's better than the upgrade Pratt-229. Then again, GE has alwasy been a better powerplant than Pratt in the Viper.

Hmmm better? The -132 is new and much is the same but different, I worked with it for a bit. The only -132's are in block 60 UAE jets. The 229 still has no class A mishaps and GE cant say that. There are plus to each engine.

The 425th at Luke AFB lost a jet because of 229 engine problems.

Yes Better! Where did you work ithe GE-132? I was on it for prelim before the full blown at Falcon (Edwards) CTF and performance was better than the upgraded 229. Class A mishap is low (Yes there have been a few- Crash Investigation files when I was in QA!) for -229, but then again, GE has had 75% of the production line since the F-16C. Hummmm, looks like the better Engine was worked into the fleet. Also, when you consider that the GE-129's out number the Pratt -229's by over 10 to 1, you're bound to have more problems shear mathmatics alone.

I've worked 6 of the current 7 motors the Viper uses. GE still reins supreme, not only in reliability, but MAINTENANCE! When I first came in, I was rivitised (Rivit Work Force) and spent 4 months in GE backshop. As far as breakdown, GE had it going on with a real modular design, and top-halfing the front fan casing was a great idea!

It's no wonder why the Pratt F-119 feels like a GE motor!! Very simular design, and I wonder why: GE Engineers designed it!

I worked the -132 at GEAE. The first production -132 wasnt built 'till early 03. Each engine has good ideas. The F110 to get to mid sump you disassemble the fan to get there, a PW in 3 hrs The fan can be off and out of the way. Combustor panels can be replaced on a PW thus not changing the combustor.

Working 4 months in a backshop does not make an engine troop. I was part of rivit as well and remember how it was. I could crew a jet until an engine problem came up, fix the engine then go back to my jet. Split cases are a good idea, so is a blisk for ease of maintenance, not soo sure on costs. So a F119 has split cases that makes it "feel like a GE"? Like I said both engines have there high points.

The GE isn't really a modular concept, PW used that term years ago so GE has strayed away form that like many other terms such as augmentor/augmenter ignitor/igniter.
