By the way..I brought a book called "The intelligence war" (published 1982)Its got all these cool details about Sigint,Elint Humint etc etc, It also has a paragraph on how the soviets could have used raiding parties of "civilians" to attack allied airfields in england and elsewhere and then have some of them: "trained pilots to hijack sensitive aircraft" and fly them to the warsaw pact nations. What are you folks thoughts on that?

ya ummm about that. We have these nifty little things called M-16A2's and M-4 Carbines that end up at the base of your skull when one tries something so stupid. And that's not breaking OPSEC you don't want to know the rest.

and Dave your replies had me in stiches.

I'm amazed that keys are still being left in the cockpit. Aside from the F.O.D. in the cockpit issue. Keeping the keys in the cockpit rather than in the key storage locker at Ops is a security violation. The only expection I can think of is aircraft on alert duty. Even then, the control stick is locked with "The Club".

And they ain't afraid to use 'em, either!

Story from a year or so before I started volunteering to work @ Aviation Nation at Nellis - A couple of volunteers were walking down the ramp a day or two prior to the public airshow, wearing their volunteer T-Shirts and their credentials around their necks. They weren't looking where they were going and as the ropes weren't up around some of the jets yet. They got a bit too close to the Raptors and found themselves face down, spread eagle, with guns at the backs of their necks.

These guys watch over their jets for unauthorized people even more closely than a car salesman watchs for people around that new shiny Corvette on the showroom floor - and that's pretty darn impressive Razz !
