Though I cannot post my results here (as it is still Tuesday night), many have already been informed of their future. In about 10 or so hours I will know mine.
Thank you for the support I have already gotten form everyone here. I truly do appreciate it.
Though we may share some differences from time to time, you all are a first class act in my book.
Lets hope I have good news for you in the morning. Now its time to try to get some sleep. |

I wish I had good news for you all. I really would like to be able to tell you to meet me at the club for drinks on Friday, but I can't.
All I can really say is that I was not selected for retention in the Air Force. I guess luck just wasn't on my side for this one.
Actually, the reality of the matter is that the other packages were written better than mine was (a rather sore subject) and the other people were ranked higher than I was.
Since this is how it ended up, I'll be calling every Guard and Reserve unit out there. It doesn't matter if I can keep my same AFSC, just so long as I can stay in in some capacity.
I WILL MAKE CAPTAIN SOME DAY!
Just not in the regular Air Force.
Like I said, I wish I had good news for you all, and I am sorry I won't be buying the beer this week. Thanks for all your support. |

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. I've got a lot of ex-enlisted friends that were caught in the same situation back during the 90's. Keep your head up and keep going.
Thank you for the time and the work that you've put in and the beer's on us this Friday.

| Sorry to hear that Lt. I am sure they need some 21Ms in the Guard or Reserves. I have no idea the status on the AMMO Lts here at Dyess. I haven't seen any of them all week, and we have a few good Lts here. |

There is hope... I lost my job (enlisted, Crew Chief) thanks to force shaping, courtesy of no CJR. However, I am stepping into a C-130 Flight Engineer slot with a reserve unit. Took them two duty days to hire me after they got my resume, which consisted of the stuff I do as an F-16 maintainer every day, nothing too special. Talk to the units around where you want to be, and check out this site:
https://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/RMVS/S ... E=O&type=D
You'll have to log into VMPF, and then look for "Reserve Vacancies", and of course select officers. I just looked, and didn't see any O1/O2 slots, but the job I got also said "Retraining not authorized" (I should go to tech school in August.). Point being, even if it says they can't hire you, put together a resume and contact the people there- if you're good and can prove it, then they'll probably take you. Good luck, and PM me if you have any Q's. |

Heh, yeah.
I started the job search about 10 minutes after I got my results.
All the other Lts who got cut were granted the rest of the day off. I took a few minutes to calm down, and picked up my notebook. This notebook contains the recruiting phone number to each and every ANG unit in the US. I figured that since everyone else who got cut will be calling the guard, I had better get moving as soon as possible.
I spoke to three units today, and two of them are actually in need of officers. So I think that if I move fast enough, I'll have a place pretty soon.
Thanks for the info and kind words.
You guys keep showing me why the Air Force is a First Class ride all the way!
(except for the whole downsizing thing that is) |

| Luckily for some, there is still a need for home-grown officers in the guard and reserves. A couple of units I have talked to said they were rather have their own guys to commision or get some O1s or O2s rather than get a major or LTC from the regulars... |

I spoke to a staff officer when I was in Virginia last week. He had mentioned that the Air Force is trying to reduce the number of officers that were commissioned in the 2001-2003 time frame. (Cull some of the 9/11 knee-jerk reaction sign ups.) It is unfortunate for those who are not among that group, but that were commissioned in that time frame. I know for a fact that AmmoCapt is one of those unlucky ones, and I have to suspect that blk40crewdawg's prior enlisted friends were in the same boat. I wish I had better words of consolation, but that's what happened as I understand it.
Best of luck to Balshanar and all the others in finding your next spot. It's a damn shame we won't be in pilot school together. (Unless, of course, one of of the guard or reserve units sends you through.... c'mon backup plan!) |

At least now they can spend more money on more important things like leasing tankers and defective fighter planes. |

| I know a certain AMMO captain at Luke that should be shown the gate, as SOON as possible. He's a re-tread, too. |
