As I drove by to see the wreck, I saw the Coastie 'bird gettin ready to land. It was as if they didn't know the civvy training bird had even landed on the field. They peeled off and landed somewhere else. Where, I don't know. Nothing this exciting happened when I was at school, both occupants recieved minor injuries.

Doesn't do that to me. Hmmm...

(05/04/06) KINGS PARK - A private training helicopter made a hard landing at Kings Park High School Thursday.

The school was waiting for a helicopter from the Coast Guard for an assembly when another chopper made the hard landing on a field. The school superintendent says the Coast Guard chopper was not involved in the crash and had not arrived at the school. The superintendent added that the Coast Guard admiral has since changed his travel plans and was expected to arrive by car later Thursday.

The two people inside the two-seater chopper were injured in the crash. An off-duty New York City fireman was able to pull the men from the helicopter. The west side part of the school was evacuated as a result of the landing.
