Hi all

I have a doubt about the Raptor's ENCOM. I don't know if it's true or not but let's suppose the F-22 controls its emissions in five levels.

I'd like to know if the Raptor pilot has a 360 degrees of SA and if it can shoot AIM-120s in its first level of emission?

I am not trying to take secret information, just trying to figured out the idea.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, but I think this one falls under OPSEC Wink .

Just remember (and I'm a civilian with no clearances) that the F-22 doesn't have to light off his radar to hit you with a Slammer in the snot locker Very Happy ! Data links are COOL!

A Raptor can receive data from: 1) other Raptors located far behind, using the IFDL (intra flight datalink) and 2) from AWACS, Rivet Joint and other USAF assets, using the (receiver-only) Link 16 datalink terminal. If the bad guy is relatively close, the Raptor's own passive ALR 94 (RWR) can provide data accurate enough for a firing solution. All these without using its own radar

According to marketing hype the APG-77 can itself be used as a big honkin' RWR antenna as well. And I don't see why not, half of an effective radar is being a very good listener...

One think that confused me here, does that mean that the Raptor can use the RWR for target acquisition too ? I thought RWRs were limited to warnings, altough with so many goodies in the F-22 nothing seems like a surprise anymore Shocked

The ALR-94 is far more than just a RWR. Do a web search on it and you'll see what I mean. There are antennas scattered all over the F-22's airframe to feed it signals.

Here's the thing; 7 of this guy's 9 posts are asking for what is probably classified information. Seems kinda strange that all he seems to ask about is classified. Some of it seems harmless, but I think it's worth noting his curiosity in classified matters.
So... how well does the KGB pay you for this? Laughing

Keep in mind that folks often ask for classified info without knowing it. If you aren't in the system, then how would you know? Not to say that some of these questions aren't a bit over the top...

PS: You would be surprised how much sensitive stuff is NOT classified. I dealt with that all the time when foreign nationals would ask for info through our office...of course, even unclass info has to go through the Disclosure process, but I had to review it and was amazed at the stuff we did not classify. Yet another post of someone who should understand before posting that questions like these should NEVER be made here.

Sorry Marcelo but you completely blew it by asking something like this. Crying or Very sad

I don't have an intend to insult just advise to read a little better the posts of other contributors of the forum in particular those that refer to security clearance issues as well as the stickys from the moderators with regard to classified information.

Kind Regards. Wink

Phew, THOSE answers would be VERY useful to certain folk. I see some posts, threads that I feel the author regrets as soon as they press the SUBMIT button!
I think ROSCOE is near the truth, some people just ask the wrong questions, then squirm. Don`t want to ride you MARCELO but a few words from yourself could put certain people at ease. Just a suggestion....
