There?s currently an interesting discussion regarding the original Japanese concepts for the FS-X (now F-2) programme which where first supposed before the F-16-based F-2 was choosen !

That top drawing looks a lot like some of the early Super Hornet configurations. I'm sure McDD was pitching the SuperHornet to Japan during the early FS-X time frame. If so then this drawing would not represent an indigenous design.
The second one (the model) looks a lot like a twin-engine, twin-tail Lavi. (let's see if I can say that in this forum w/o starting a fight!) |
