Hello !
I'd actually like to ask how possible is in the US to get a ride in an ANG F-16. We have a member in my more regular forum, aged around 15, claiming he is an "AFJROTC" member on his school and claiming he just got selected to fly an F-16 backseat (not himself maybe, but get into the backseat of a flying F-16 anyways).
I'm not from the States, I don't know the system there so I'm intrigued if this might be possible.
Thanks

| AFROTC cadets often get rides in military aircraft, but an AFJROTC cadet claiming to get stick time in a viper? that's kinda far fetched for me. |

I've been around the viper for over 11 years now both stateside and overseas. I have never...ever seen a AFJROTC get a ride. Whether it be and active duty ride or a ride in a Guard jet I can't ever see it happening. there is just to much liability in it for one.
Anyone else out there have anything on this. I am interested to hear if anyone has seen this before. |

| Ha Ha, ask him if he got his parental permission form signed yet. If the dude says he is gonna get a ride, then ask to see pictures of it. You know that if its true then he's gonna have pictures to back it up. Personally though, the bull$hit-o-meter is pegged out on this guy's story. |

Seems out there to me... But it also seemed out there to me when I heard ROTC cadets at Tuscon University AZ could get F-16 rides nearly weekly and that turned out to be true. He's deffinatly got to have pictures though. I cant ever see getting an incentive ride without pictures. If it was a PR thing the personel officer would have deffinatly brought a camera for their newspaper look good photo so he'd at least have those...
Ask him questions. The name of his pilot, what model it was? How fast he got.... When you suspect something is BS the trick is to ask as many questions as possible about it and act real interested. Proffessionals will try to keep their story moderate but answer quickly as to sound real. It's not easy though and theyll goof up sooner or later.

By any chance, could this forum be "FighterOps"? There was also a kid asking about a backseat ride there and I mentioned about a civilian getting a ride in a ANG F-16 (SD to be specific) I stated I did not know the circumstances, no she didn't look she was a journalist, apparently she got some higher people in her contact list. |

Ha Ha, I was an AFJROTC cadet in high school. I can say they took us in a C-130 from the KY ANG unit out of Louisville. Now the chances of a cadet going up in a F-16, maybe for a taxi ride., but no incentive. I would quiz this kid to death, ask him how -+ G's he pulled, speed, squadron, base, etc...
Just my 2 cents.

| Are 15 yr old even physically fit nowadays to go on a hi-performance ride? Where I am originally from 15 yr olds are just kids can't even drive cars, let alone can see over the dash board. Though different countries, different people. |

So a 50-50 chance, right ? Thanks for the input. When (and if) he gets that ride, we'll definetely need pictures. With him from inside the cockpit, flying that is. Is this possible ? Cause I have pictures next to 2-seater F-16s from airshows, but that doesn't mean I've flown in them too...
For Bushmaster, the original thread is this
http://forums.flightsimforums.com/index ... topic=5528
I tend to agree with you in your point, why would the USAF let a kid into the jet anyways ? I can see why an C-130 because it's closer to an everyday airliner than the F-16...
Thanks guys for your input and help over that ! |

He can carry his little Cybershot in the pit though he can show you literally any fighter pilot's pic and say it is me because of the mask and visor would be down. Request that his mask is off and visor up. |

| You want me come there and trash the kid? I think there is a great chance he is blowing a lie to you all. Not even 50-50... |

| Also this kid is talking about passing a PT test, and I think he is confusing it with a flight physical. What written test is he talking about? Darn, he even knows the patrol route. Ask him what kind of patrol is it? Filling out and mailing the photography permit, like the guys who are giving him the incentive will check if he filed his paperwork 3 months prior on the day of the sortie. What a joke!!!! He also says he needs to do pull-ups for the PT test, AFAIK only branch that requires pull-ups is the USMC not the AF. Later someone asks what is the number of pull-ups he is supposed to do, our kiddo doesn't even know what is being asked to him.... Seriously, either someone is messing with this kid, or this kid is messing with you. |

now you're asking to FOD out the cockpit! that ought to be a good story for him to tell his friends! "i don't have pictures, but the guys working on the jet had to take the seat and canopy off!!" |
