Wonder if his squadron mates will "warm up" his beer to make him feel at home
Well, RAF pilots have flown the F-117, way back in the eighties, the B-2 and now the F-22...I don`t think the vast majority of people outside of the military realise just how closely the US/UK co-operate militarily....hmmm, wonder if any RAF types have flown the SR-71! Don`t want or expect any answers on that one
Any USAF exchange pilots would eventually, almost certainly get to fly the Typhoon as it will become the RAF`s main type. |

| I know if I were the US Air Force exchange pilot, I would not want to fly anything else but the Typhoon. I would feel short changed if I flew in anything else for my tour in the UK. |

Lol; as far as I know there is a US Marines exchange pilot with the Fleet Air Arm at the moment, and a US Navy F-14 jock at Leuchers on the F3's. Thats all I'm aware of right now.
I know there is an RAF pilot on B-2's at the moment... infact he bought in one of the two that deployed to Fairford last week

Mine were in reference to guys who already rotated through Lyneham on the Hercs.

For Fast Jets -
Uk has an exchange with the RAAF. RAAF also has exhange's with the US Marines and USAF.
Thats for fast jets, however it would not suprise me at all that the Maritime Patrol and Transport guys have similar programs. |

Pilots whom apply for certain postings know EXACTLY what type they are going to fly I would suppose!
I would think that there is a healthy exchange program operating within NATO. I think it is quite revealing that no other NATO aircrew get to fly the really neat stuff other than RAF crews, I could be wrong though.
I know that some USAF types have flown German Mig-29s, I would guess that some German pilots have had the favour returned and flown some US types in typical exchange programs. |

That's the way the article mde it sound Snypa. BTW everyone; I've had an exchange program thread sitting in the AF life section for sometime. If you have any stories be sure to share them for the rest of our benefit!
Personally; I'd like to do an exchange to a really third world country flying older a/c and who's only threats are against other older A/C. I just think that would be cool :p I was born an era too late, Vietnam was my war. Oh well I'm just happy fighters will still be around when I get to the point of application.

Several years ago Russian test pilots attended a course at Edwards AFB! No mention was made as to what type of test pilots they were.

Some of the best launches I ever had were with foreign pilots. I had more problems understanding what French pilots say more than the Dutch.

| The first USAF exchange officer for Typhoon is in the UK and currently undergoing training on type. He happens to be a former Viper driver, no less! |
