Have any pilots on here done any exchange tours? If so where to? Any stories to tell?

What qualifications need you for an exchange tour? And what kind of tours are available?

For anybody, if you could fly one jet not available to your country what would it be?

All the USAF Officer Exchange Programs, both Operations and Maintenance side of the house are controlled by the Pentagon and State Department (Government to Government Programs).

AFI 16-107 lays out the complete listing of programs and their operating instructions...good stuff to read, you can see how it comes about...Good luck, some are great slots, others...not so good Smile

I always wanted to do a few weeks on a carrier. Not a whole tour, just a few weeks to see how the other half lives.

I did with the Blue Angels, it was amazing, cramped (very tight quarters) and hot...USS Lexington (Training Carrier) off the coast of Pensacola...it was amazing.

Made me glad I was USAF, "hot bonged" it too. Guy left his bed (went to work), took his sheets off, stored them, I put mine on, slept in it, took them off when I worked (stored them), he made his bed...continuous cycle...amazing tour for five days.

Love it, lots happening on that flight deck, Carrier is de-commissioned now...shame but she was old, but what a time I had, never thought I would do anything like that...too cool.

Yes but I am sorry to say I let my oldest grandson use it and he lost it on an ATV ride up in the mountains. That taught me a lesson but I still cant believe it when I think back on it, it was fun and very educational for me.

Thanks - Tom
