Will one of the Mods or Admins explain the quote script to me?
I used to get rather random quotes that changed with each page refresh. Then they started changing less frequent; I assumed it became a daily. Just noticing the last couple days, theyve changed 2 or 3 times a day. Is everyone seeing the same quote? And how is the quote selected? Is there a way to access the list of quotes without actually waiting for them to change on the site? And does everyone see the same quote or is it selected randomly for each user on the site...
Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Hi Aaron,
They change less frequently now because of the caching we do on our homepage. The quotes are selected randomly and different users will see different quotes while simultaneously looking at the homepage. The lists are stored in a database and cannot be accessed by the users.
I just added a whole bunch of new quotes. Here's just a few of them to make up for my late reply:
- I wanted to go back for another 50 missions, but they ruled it out because I had a case of malaria that kept recurring. So I had to stay in the States and teach combat flying. I was shot down by a mosquito!
-- Frank Hurlbut, P-38 pilot
- If God had intended man to fly, He would not have invented Spanish Air Traffic Control.
-- Lister, in the BBC TV series, 'Red Dwarf'
- Muhammad Ali: Superman don’t need no seat belt.
Flight Attendant: Superman don’t need no airplane, either.
-- quoted by Clifton Fadiman, 'The Little, Brown Book of Anecdotes,' 1985
- Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.
-- G. K. Chesteron, 'Orthodoxy,' 1908
- I don't like flying because I'm afraid of crashing into a large mountain. I don't think Dramamine is going to help.
-- Kaffie, in the 1992 movie 'A Few Good Men'
- High-performance jet fighter, fully armed with missiles, guns. ECM equipment, fresh paint (stars and bars painted over), single seat, 97% reliability rate, will outclimb, outturn F-16, outrun F-14, low fuel burn (relatively), all digital avionics, radar, terrain following, INS, GPS, Tacan, used only for testing and sales promotion. Now in storage. Contact Northrop Corp. Will trade for Mig-25 and home address of Air Force Acquisition officer.
-- Ad found in 'Pacific Flyer' magazine, shortly after the F-20 program was cancelled.
- It only takes five years to go from rumor to standard operating procedure.
-- Dick Markgraf
- When asked why he was referred to as 'Ace': Because during World War Two I was responsible for the destruction of six aircraft, fortunately three were enemy.
-- Captain Ray Lancaster, USAAF
- Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.
-- Seen on a General Dynamics bulletin board
- My definition of an optimist has to be the Luftwaffe F-104 pilot who gave up smoking!
-- John Wiley
Cheers,
