| On one hand, you have the Advanced Fighter Technology Integration F-16 with advanced sideforce control, and on the other you have the canard-equipped F-15 Short Takeoff and Maneuverability Technology Demonstrator. Take Your Pick! |

Is this for dogfighting, a BVR comparison, or ?
I would personally choose the F-15S/MTD, but both are great aircraft
If it is for dogfighting, I think a comparison between the VISTA F-16 MATV and the F-15 ACTIVE would be better. |

| It's been so long since I posted this that I don't even remember what I was comparing. |

Anybody have or know where to find any good pictures of the F-15S/MTD? Checked google but did not find to clear of pictures.
Never have seen this plane before anybody know any sites that compare performance to the F-15A or F-15C?
Thanks |

Thanks VigilanteAgumon for the site! Exactly what i was looking for.
I have found the one picture of the F-15S/MTD which looks like it has the F-22 style TV, the F-15 ACTIVE looks to have the 360 degree TV can anyone confirm this? Also looks like the F-15S/MTD was tested with weapons loaded (maybe those are just test pods, I can't tell from this picture) did the ACTIVE ever get tested with weapons or did NASA just use it for flight tests?
Also can anyone tell me who used the F-15S/MTD? It does not have the NASA paint scheme. |

Sorry to dig up this old post, but someone in another post here on the F-15 ACTIVE was asking about the practicality of the ACTIVE in combat, because it appeared that the canards blocked the gun and flight refuel boom from working, but I found this picture on the NASA site of the F-15 IFCS (same plane as in F-15 ACTIVE and S/MTD programs) being refueled in-flight. Can someone explain to me what is going on here? Do the canards not block the refuel nozzle, or did they relocate it?
If someone can find the old post where this was asked, i'll relocate it to there, but I can't seem to find it.
Here is the pic:
