I am recently retired from the Iowa ANG (132d FW, Des Moines) after 26 years. My last job was the First Sergeant of the 132d CES and spent most of my career filling in craters and digging up various parts of the world on deployment (especially Ramstein) as an Heavy Equipment operator.

One of my all time greatest experiences will be the day I took an incentive flight in 89-2179 and to all you pilots out there, every time I see a F-16 I'll be green with envy. What a sweet bird to fly and I flew a lot of the flight. We wrung it out as much as possible and I didn't pop but one more 7.8g turn would have had me using the bag. I can't express enough my appreciation for the job you do. Here's a pic of me with my pilot, Col. Gregory J. Schwab, a truly great guy and pilot.

Fantastic site and I'll be here often.

Thanks for the welcome, all. Asif the only other two pictures I have of the bag are not that close up and of the 5 patches you can see, 4 of them are all DSM unit patches (A-7 "Ugly but well hung", the Viper desert patch, 124th. Squadron, 132d Viper patch) and I can't make out the 5th. Tell you what, next time I'm over there I'll stop in and ask the Colonel if I can take some pictures of his helmet bag. Also, in Building 124, they have a whole wall in a hallway (about 20 feet long) covered in various patches. I'll take some pictures for you. Very Happy

I to retired from the 132nd. But I retired in 1994 after working in the elements to long. I started there working on the F-100 as a traditional guardsman then became a technician just after we got the A7. I was crew chief on A7's then as crew chief on the first F-16 we got. The first F-16's were block 40's but didn't have them long until changed to block 42's. My regular Air Force time was crewing KC-135's. Col Shwab(sp) is a fantastic person. I remember when he came to the unit as Cap Shwab flying the A7's. Hope you have a good retirement and good luck.

Much appreciated if you can get some detailed pictures of the bag and of that hallway. Very Happy
