F-16 vs F-18 - Cool Comparison Picture

Here is a picture of 2 Diamond formations, one F-16, one F-18. Both are completely accurate to scale diamond formations and the jets were placed in the exact same place. You can see that the F-18 is much bigger and looks like if the Thunderbirds were in the F-18, they'd be flying just as close as the Blue Angels. Still I like the Thunderbirds more and think they're better but this makes you think. That wingspan makes a huge difference.

I believe the 18's in the illustration are the larger F/A-18F's - at least it appears to be from the more rounded shape of the the LERX's - the C's have slimmer points that don't flare as much. Blue Angels fly the significantly smaller F/A-18 C/D's. Also the horizontal stabs overlap the exhaust nozzles more significantly.... see illustration at the bottom of this page:
