Hi,

before the beginning of the war on Iraq, the RJAF (Royal Jordanian Air Force) has made a big deal with the USAF to obtain F-16's. Does anyone know something about this deal, if you do... which versions was these F-16's..

Well Redline,

There have been a lot of rumors about a second F-16 deal between the US and Jordan. Up to now, F-16.net hasn't reported about the deal, because we didn't know exactly what the content of that deal was. So if you browse to the serials database and look up the Jordan vipers, you will only find the 16 examples which were delivered under the Peace Falcon deal.

When you browse the internet, than you will find a number of statements covering the second purchase. With these statements you will even find an official one of the US ambassy in Jordan.

What are the facts?

The number of aircraft concerned would be in the 15-17 region. Just like the first purchase. The version would almost certainly be the ADF version. This is because the first aircraft under Peace Falcon were also of the ADF version.

The reason why we have been reluctant about publishing something about it, is because even LMTAS hasn't made an official statement about such a purchase. What we ask ourselves is, why should such a purchase be shrouded in secrecy. It is not a secret that the US sells arms to Jordan. There weren't any problems with the first purchase, so why would there be with this one?

If anyone has more information about a second purchase of F-16's by Jordan during 2002 - 2003. Please let us know.

Greets,
