I also heard today his chute didn't have time to fully open and like I said earlier I heard he bailed after impact. I don't know how the warranty stuff works, I doubt "CRASHING" is a warranty item, you know the warranty seals cracked wide open (joke). I have to assume that since it was an LM pilot, he is heavily insured and/or bonded but that's just a common sense WAG.
I just hope the pilot is okay, we can build another jet. |

Quote:
On Monday, a UAE Air Force F-16E/F Block 60 aircraft crashed during a routine training flight in the emirate of Al Ain. The aircraft was part of a group of F-16s meant to be flown at the Al Ain Aerobatic Show, scheduled to begin on Jan. 11.
Officials said the F-16 was flown by a UAE pilot and crashed into a sand dune near Al Ain International Airport. They said the pilot survived the crash.
Mind you, they also said it crashed in sand dunes when in fact it crashed in a cleared area just outside the airfield fence, well away from the dunes. |

I remember, aeons ago, I watched this movie about the USAF Viper's early crashes.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103626/
"Afterburn"
"Based on a true story, one woman takes on the U.S. military and General Dynamics; maker of the F-16, thought to be the very best tactical fighter in the world. Air Force Captain Theodore T. Harduvel (Vincent Spano) was one of the best F-16 pilots the U.S. had to offer. After much digging, Janet Harduvel discovers a joint military and General Dynamic cover-up. She proves to be unwavering in her search for the truth to clear his name." |

Gamera, there's some other threads somewhere on the forum here that discusses that movie. A LOT of Hollywood got mixed in with facts.
Here they are: |

| The word I got from LM was that the pilot was one of the LM air show (demo) pilots. No word on his condition. |

To clear it up I think what is meant is that the UAE withdrew both displays due to the accident. Would make interesting reading if it was otherwise! |
