Gums,

Foxtrot them, and feed them fish heads! Those Pinko Bastards!!!

Reminds of showing up for work one day, if you can count getting four hours in the Lockheed xxxxx work, and the boss was pissed! He said, “Damn!t JR, I gotta get me an AN/ALQ-46 jammer!” So I asked what the foxtrot was up and here’s the story.

He said he was kinda late going to a business meeting so he kinda had it pushed up a little, running 140 mph in his Carrera on a two lane in a southern state. He pops over a little hill and a XX state trooper is staring beak to beak and the bosses threat detection is pegged, so he manages to stomp the brakes a little too vigorously, and smokes all four tires breaking the lock of the trooper and at 110 the “man’s” radar locks on… The boss is thinking press or stop… He quickly decides to stop with smoke and blue lights in his rearview.

He climbs out as the trooper screeches to a stop and jumps out yelling, in a shrill, screaming, and yelling voice. “What in the foxtrotting he!! did you think you were doing, I clocked you at one - ten and you were smoking your brakes for four seconds before I got a lock, goxhdaxnit!!!”

So the boss is trying to figure out the correct response for this situation… So he paused for a second or to and screamed back in a shrill voice, “I don’t know!”

So they stand there for several seconds and the trooper’s breathing slows a little and he yells, “Hey, didn’t I see you flying a xxxxx at the airshow in xxxxxxxxxx last month.”

“You sure did!”, the boss yells back.

Ain’t it interesting how millionaires get away with what they would put the rest of us in the pokey for…

So the boss said “We gotta figure out what it’s gonna take, two generators, I don’t care cause I wanna go by them bas!ards and melt their freaking radars on their dash!!!

(TC in a "Liar Joe Isuzu" voice...)

Now introducing the "Car Nuke", developed by Gums and JR, and now available from Ronco...the same company that brought you the Pocket Fishing Pole. Only $19.99 in this special tv offer! But wait, if you act now, you can get a free self-cleaning kitty litter box, AND a voice-activated key finder! Pick up yours today at your nearest participating Walgreens or True-Value Hardware stores!

That's awesome Gums! I drive a Ford Ranger too. We should develop a pylon for the Ranger, so we can mount this sucker! Laughing

Beers and MiGs were made to be pounded!

TC,

Didn't you know that was the approved AF crew car in FL? That's what I drove out to the airport today to meet Tyger and let him take a look at the jets. This pic is out of my rear view, look at the next customer at the drive thru...

Tyger,

Thanks again for the great deal on the "airshow" gear!

Think the old mossback, 12 pound bass is gonna bite?

YOU BETCHYA!!!!!

For all the terrorists out there, go look someplace else.

If I had a 1980-something car with the first-generation electronic ignition, I would be scared. If I had a brand-new Beamer, I wouldn't worry too much.

Hell, this very PC had a lightning strike a year and a half ago, and all it did was fry the modem and cause some occasional glitches in the USB card (still a problem from time to time).

The Vipers I flew had mid-70's FLCS computers. USAF and the EPG were very concerned about EMP, considering the WW3 scenario we built the thing for. So guess what? My wingie took a lightning strike right at the front of the canopy (about a foot and a half from the FLCS boxes). All the panel lights came on. Reset the stupid lights. Keep flying. Hmmmmmmm.

Think we had figured out some ways to keep truckin' in a harsh EMP environment? And this was 1970's tech. So go someplace else if you wanna inflict pain and misery.

The kinda EMP stuff I personally want is more related to nuisance noise and interference on my radio.

So a group of us are covertly developing a "thumper buster". You all know the scenario.

Some yute pulls up at the traffic signal and your guts start to move with the thump, thump, thump, thump. Been there? Wanna make that clueless sucker regret his 200 watt amp? So you flick the switch on your "buster" and his CD sampling doofer gets 100 watts of pure noise, which is then amplified to a zillion watts right inside his cheap import. Wow! Would be like Michael Fox in "Back to the Future". Ear damage not a problem in court, as we would have witnesses testifying that the stupid yute already had permanent ear damage from his basic thumper doofer. The blown out speakers might also be explained by "atmospheric phenomena" or sunspots or global warming or something. Now all the glass damage could be another issue( heh heh, I can just see all the particles of his windshield all over the hood, still chuckling). But I basically like the concept, and am working hard to perfect it so as not to "boom" some grandma playing Beethoven on her Caddy's CD.

later, I got things to do, circuits to design, pilot-vehicle-interface issues to resolve for we Ford Ranger folks with the Thumper Buster.

Note to admin: Too much buck rogers thinking written here. Please consider removing for national security purposes. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Just what kind of damage could this Russian EMP device do? As Gums says, I would have thought that most millitary hardware is hardened against EMP anyway, comms systems, computers, radars, etc, etc...
The general public infrastructure may be badly hit but our millitary forces will just keep on truckin` right! Cool

A small question;

How large will the aera - that feels the EMP effect - be?

Depends entirely on the size of the device and what altitude it is detonated. EMF strength decreases at the cube of distance, on the other hand nuclear weapons are orders of magnitude more powerful than 'conventional' EMP bombs.

Gums, JR, TC, et al you guys crack me up. But what's really needed is RAM for sports cars. If the trooper can't get a radar lock on you going at the speed of stink...

And as for the Thumper Buster, i've got a low tech solution to the problem. Pop in the ear plugs, blast your own stereo and stare the guy down. Did you know that Led Zeppelin annihilates techno on contact? Guess that counts as ECCM Wink

Gums, I want a "thumper buster" when you start making the first prototypes! I've heard of cell phone jammers (you know for that idiot next to you, who doesn't care if the whole world hears his conversation). And to DesignAndConquer, I like your ECCM theory, I've tried using it in the past (with limited success). Much as I love Led Zep, it doesn't seem to effect that thump, thump, thump, trunk-rattling bass. Ah well.

Salute!

We are having trouble with getting the CD sampling frequencies for our Buster. Too many non-standard sampling rates for us to hitchhike on and introduce the 2500 hz , 150 dB jamming. Secondly, some of the yutes actually use old-fashioned cassette players - GASP!!!!!

So we're looking at an actual EMP "ray". we can easily narrow down the offensive yute, with his thump, thump, thump. We then slew our highly directional antenna at the sucker and ZAP!!!! His ignition fails, his battery is fried and no more "thump, thump, thump". Best part is driving away and watching the yute take a lotta crapola from those who are stuck behind his stalled car. Laughing just thinking about it.........

OTOH, some folks on the staff think we could use another Gums' non-lethal weapon concept - the Super Glue Bomb!!!!! We mount a basic paintball gun on a turret and fire a dozen paintballs filled with super glue right under the sucker's tires. Within 5 seconds, depending upon temperature and humidity, he's stuck!!!!!! This weapon was developed during the height of the Cold War, but at a much larger scale. Our concept was to use all the old napalm cans from VietNam storage sites. Fill half with hardener and half with the epoxy resin. Drop six of those suckers at the front of all the bad guy aircraft shelter doors and PRESTO!!!! Would take them a few days to open the doors, and by then ....

I need venture capital, dammit!!!! Will set up a Pay Pal account for those interested in this project. Meanwhile, you can send a flat-screen, high-def 42 inch DLP television to the address on my profile. I'll pay the postage.

Gums sends .......

Laughing And throw in a Dish Network system, and a couple of cases of suds too!

I just need to get a good fuzz buster. Do they even still sell those?
