Hello All,
Just curious, is it just me, or have almost all recent USAF/ANG/AFRC Viper repaints, had the radome repainted as well? There are alot of pics where they match the 36270 the rest of the plane is painted. I have seen very little of radome repaints until recently, almost like it was skipped at the paint barn for years. Thanks.

Jeff

I know that about a year or so ago we actually cleaned the grime off of the radomes in the 4th AMU with a cleaner that was safe enough for the radomes and we got them to that light grey like new condition, but here lately we've had a hard time trying to aquire some more of the product. But it works like a champ though. As for the radomes getting painted @ PDM, when the radomes go to depot for repair the usually get re-skinned after the repair hence the light grey appearance.

This post may be a little late but better than never. The -23 specifies aircraft repainting procedures and cautions(radome shall not be painted with 36270) While at depot the radome is protected during aircraft stripping/repainting procedures.
If your looking for that "repainted" look on an aging radome; MEK is the preferred method of cleaning. Wipe in one direction... T.O. ref is the same as the lightning divergence strips. (i believe the -6 will ref. that T.O.)
