This is still more viable given the power and aperture size of the Irbis, which is a newer and more advanced radar. Albeit I'm sceptical of this figure it's at least made clear that it is only in optimal conditions.

One Viper driver here once wrote that in Block 30 (or maybe 40? Don’t remember) tracking ranges of 40 nm were not unusual. APG-68(V)9 should be better than that. Maybe like 50-60 nm?

Correct plus optimal conditions (approaching target at high altitude with no background clutter). In other words it's not a performance which is likely to be achieved in operational conditions.

That's still feasible, but 160 nm is clearly out of scope by a wide margin.
