Just a real quick question

I’m writing concerning the PCSM and the civilian flying hours. Unfortunately, my mother does not support my ambitions to fly, and will not lend me the money to take flying lessons. So, Ive been left to pay for it on my own. I respect her decision, and being a full time student at auburn leaves no time to make money to pay for the training. I can understand the slots for the most desirable planes are competitive, but frankly id fly the worst plane the AF had is it was offered to [Link pending approval] With no hours in the air and a good AFOQT (i got a 98 pilot 95 nav) do I stand a chance at perhaps at least pursuing cargo planes? Or is it a lost hope?

Additionally, I’m on a 5 year track to finish my engineering [Link pending approval] I do ROTC my fourth and fifth year? or is it only a 3rd and 4th year thing?

Thanks for the help

I paid for my private through CFI with student loans. I got hired by a Guard fighter unit. Money well spent.

You don't have to have a license to get hired, but it's a really good idea to at least get your private.

Go to the AFROTC Det on your campus & talk to the Admissions Officer. They will be able to tell you about all of your options. When I went thru (6 yrs ago), there was a one year program for those that were about to graduate and a 2 year program for those who decided to come in later in their college career. There were approved 5 yr programs ... typically any Scientific degree (Physics, Math, Engineering, etc.), so don't worry about that issue.

What will you do if you don't get your choice of career?

I have thought about this [Link pending approval] probably would still go into the AF as a CIvil Engineer if circumstances allowed. My father was an Engineer at Eglin AFB and loved it. The lifestyle seems right for [Link pending approval] wouldnt turn around and stomp my feet because i was denied an opportunity to fly.

Have you thought Aircraft Maintenance? You get to be around the Ops community and the jets alot more often than if you were in CE. That's the route I went!! I love every minute of it!

BTW ... ROLL TIDE!!

I have considered it, but as awesome as it would be to work on the planes, id rather pursue civil engineering just to get a head start in that [Link pending approval] news though, my father knows a guy who is the president of some aviation school, and he said hed give me 100 hours of lessons for 1000 [Link pending approval] Viper Mx, do u know if i could do a three year program in the ROTC, get to know the guys better, and then just fart around the last year while i try to get a slot?

and by the [Link pending approval] EAGLE
