| I don't care if she or any females are fighter pilots or not, just get the cameras out their faces and let them do their jobs; defending their countries! |

Can't read/understand Korean (OK, I'm not perfect), so checked non-Korean sites.

3 July was Pilots' Day in ROK.
The KF-16 crash on 20 July 2007, involved a ROKAF Captain whose father was also a ROKAF pilot killed in accident in 1984.
After this crash, ROKAF decided to remake the pilot's red scarf, to raise pilots' morale, and requested fashion designer Andre KIM. He agreed and accepted no design fee.
During ceremony with ROKAF REMFs, Korean War ROKAF retired/veteran pilots, and ROKAF active-duty pilots, in Seoul, on 3 July 2008, he presented the first redesigned red scarfs to ROKAF.
The redesigned red scarfs will be distributed to all ROKAF active-duty and Korean War retired/veteran pilots. |

Most of us "westerners" cannot truly appreciate the feat HA Yoo Mi accomplished. Only the Best of the Best get to be fighter pilots in Korea, and for a woman to achive this goal, is almost unheard of. But why not. It is the Korean woman who has kept this country going through centries of wars when the men decimated by their enimies. The chinnese, the japanese and the north koreans with the chineese.
Traditionally women are thought of as homemakers and family mangers in Korea. This womans accomplishement in her culture are not only amazing but border on the impossible. she deserves congratualtions !!!! |

AFAIK, Chinese air forces (both) and JASDF have no jet fighter female pilot yet, although they have helo and transport aircraft female pilots.
Don't know about the North Korean AF.

7 July 2008:
First batch of 22 PLAAF female student pilots formally begin fighter pilot training.
Back in 2005, chosen from 200K applicants from 12 provinces.
Already completed PLAAF aviation university and basic formation flight courses.
PLAAF already has seven batches of transport aircraft female pilots. |
