How likely is it for a viper to carry AIM-9s on the wing tips in combat? (stations 1 and 9). It seems that almost all units carry the 120's on the wing tips, and sometimes carry the 9's on stations 2 and 8. Anyone know what stations the AIM-9Xs will be carried on?
Thanks. |

| They changed to carrying 120s on the tips and 9s on stations 2 and 8 because of some flutter problems with 9s on the tips and 120s under the wings. I think? |

| AIM-9X is carried on the LAU-129 launcher. Most likely, it will still go at 2/8 with the AIM-120s staill on 1/9. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see it at 1/9, that's where I have seen it in test flights. |

Unlikely, we never do in combat. AIM-120's always goes in sta1&9. |

| The probable reason is that LAU-129 is less prone to damage due to high G's and/or vibrations then 16S210. |

Wouldn't the field of view for the 9X seeker be better if it were on the wingtip? |

| Because the slammer will not fit on the Rex dispenser... the 9 does. And maybe the "Fluttering"? |
