You and me both amigo! Cool

Also, did anyone notice that he's going the wrong way? The traffic at Miramar goes from east to west down the runway every time I ever saw it, which is from left to right in that scene. I believe it's due to the large area of undeveloped land at the east end of the runway keeping the risk to civilians down.

That's probably a very good reason. As dangerous as something like buzzing the tower is, I'm surprised the Navy allowed them to shoot that scene at all, much less risk putting any lives at an unnecessary risk. BTW, according to Tony Scott and the tech advisors, stated that CDR. Lloyd 'Bozo' Abel (the pilot for that profile) blew out all of the glass in the Air Boss's office while flying past the tower at the speed of heat! ShockedLaughing

Jerry Bruckheimer and Tony Scott were all too happy to provide the man with new office windows! Thumb

TC, as long as the traffic has been cleared, how can a pass like that be any more dangerous than an airshow demo flight? Of course it's always better to be safe than sorry Smile .

That's about how it goes. If it's something they set up ahead of time, briefed, and cleared with all of the proper authorities, then it is ok. Even still, as the Wicked Witch said "These things must be done DELICATELY!"

Then again, demo flights don't pass that close to the tower! Laughing

He he he... I got pushed back by the pressure wave by my friend flying a very famous F-86. I was standing on the control tower shooting video of friend that is an ex Navy IP. The unnamed driver knew I was there as we had worked it out with the controllers before his flight. He came by within 40 feet of the tower. I was leaning against the guard rail shooting video of him. He rolled into a knife edged just prior to passing the tower and the pressure off the top of the Sabre pushed me almost off the rail. It was a freaking hoot!!! Women were screaming, children were crying, there was gnashing of the teeth by the feeble, and all the controllers were inside the tower cheering like it was the winning touchdown at the super bowl. Applause

You’ll have to ask about the time he was requested by a NAS to do a flyby of the tower… I was inside the tower for that one. The controllers requested a flyby and later asked his position he replied “look down” as his upper wingtip passed at eye level.

Remind to tell you that story, when it’s not in a forum.

That had to be Dale "Snort" Snodgrass, flying "Skyblazer". I've seen him fly Skyblazer, and he made a knife-edge pass over the runway, at about 10 or 15 ft. AGL. D@mndest thing I've ever seen, but then again, I've seen him do things with the Tomcat that I've never seen anybody else do either.

A truly amazing pilot...

I watched a C-5 do that at an airshow at Sheppard back in the early 80's. Except we were looking down on the aircraft - it wasn't eye level. And his wigtip was probably no more than 30 ft from the tower. As much as I love fighters that was the most impressive thing I've ever seen in my life.

I have actually did a lot of work to this aircraft. I was actually inside of it last week.

Any questions you may have, I can either answer, or get the answer for you.
