According to the cover story "Frankenjet returns" in the current issue of "Fighter Line" (November 5, 2005), the aircraft of the 457th FS was brought home to NAS Fort Worth JRB (Carswell Field), Texas, by Col. Bill "Sureshot" Schauffert, 301st FW vice commander. An associated photo shows the tail markings TX and AF 85 444. Must be serial number 85-1444.
