Hi Everybody,
I noted from photos of the IAF F-16-D Sufa posted in this web site that it carries a larger drop tank compare to the standard one that we normally see.
Is this true? If yes, what is the gallon size of this new drop tank.
Thanks
Richard |

| Yes it is true, but it's not a new development. Baraks have been carring those 600-gal tanks for a few years now. |

The Advanced Block 50/52 variant is certified to carry the 600-gallon wing fuel tanks. These tanks increase range or persistence up to thirty percent over the standard 370-gallon wing tanks. The tanks are mounted on non-jettisonable pylons that can also carry the more common 370-gallon tanks.

BTW: this is very interesting website with lots of information on Israeli-made or upgraded weapons of all kinds (tanks, aircrafts, UAV's, naval, small arms ETC...) |

We've had them for years at Edwards. Back in 96 We did so more testing with them, mostly full load strains and landings. We alsao had them loaded when we were conduction the Elecetric (Yes, fully electric brakes!) brakes for Block 50. Man, they looked so weird.
The cool thing is that I will be able tyo use the 600 gal. tanks from one of my 48th F-2 kits for my F-16D Barak I started.

The Venezuelan As also carry the 600gal drops as well as Singapore's Blk 52s. The pylons on the F-2 are different from the ones on the -16s but it's a real easy mod to do if you wanna get it right |
