Any who, I called up and talked with the Officer Recruiter in Arlington, Texas today, and was pretty much told no, that I'm to old to join.

Right now I'm 27 but will be 28 in April. I won't have my degree until August(and that's pushing it) I also have my Commercial License with out 260 hours of flight time, some single engine time, but mostly mutli engine. I'll have about a [Link pending approval] when I grad this summer in Professional Aviation from UVSC. I've spent the last 8 years in the military (4 1/2 Marines 3 1/2 Army Guard) and now I'm off Title 10 Presidental Orders, I'm working full speed ahead to become qualified for a pilot slot

I tried to ask if there was anyway around it and pretty much it was still NO. i brought up the info I found from the BOT [Link pending approval]

[Link pending approval] Rated applicants (Pilots, Navigators, and ABMs) must be able to complete the selection process, attend BOT, attend Introductory Flight Training (IFT) if applicable, and enter undergraduate flying training prior to age 30. Therefore, rated applicants who are 29 as of the day the BOT board convenes are too old to apply. Exception To Policy (ETP) requests will only be considered for Pilot or Navigator applicants who have a private or commercial pilot license, and meet the minimum Pilot Candidate Selection Method - Intermediate Flight Training (PCSM-IFT) score, rated Air Force Officer Qualification Test (AFOQT) scores, and rated Grade Point Average (GPA). See Table 1, Eligibility Updates, for minimum requirements, and Attachment 5, PCSM-IFT Determination Description and Examples. ETP requests will not be considered for ABM applicants. For additional Age Waiver guidance, refer to Attachment 2, paragraph [Link pending approval]

Is there a way that I can get around this? I would give anything to fly fighters. I haven't gave up just yet, I'm pushing myself with PT, and pushing to get this degree out of the way. I've heard people getting picked for fighters at [Link pending approval], I'll be at that age in Oct of 2006. I'm looking to go back in either Active Duty or Reserve or Guard. I'll take anything to fly fighters
does anyone have any info on this??????

I've heard of people older than you getting slots in the guard ^_-? I honeslty dont know. Sounds like the recruiter just doesnt want to screw around with you going through the waiver process though. Have you taken the AFOQT, BAT test, etc yet? It might because you have to allowe a year to attend OTS?

I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff though. So I will wish you luck and hope that someone on this forum can find you the right stuff.

Hey thanks Aaron, I am guessing that might be the case. I haven't actually taken the test. I've got the books to study, between flying 5 days a week and school on the other 2 days, I'm trying to study the guide when I get a moment, but I'm making it a priority now that I'm getting up there on age.

Someone mentioned to call a couple guard units up directly and ask them if they are hiring. In June a C-130 guard unit is hiring, and there is a f-16 unit, Reserves, that I'm trying to get a hold of. But I can almost bet they might not be hiring if they are they might be hiring from within. Hopefully on Monday, I can call and see that the requirements are.

I'm not sure if I have enough time to go enlist with the unit, bust my butt to show them that I want to be a pilot. Also I'm going to talk to an ROTC unit and see what they say. But either way I can bet the competition is fierce. But I'm still not going to give up and see what they [Link pending approval] will see
